"Person with autism" is the language of the disability rights movement (DRM) and all our disability legislation - legacy to be proud of. "Autistic" is identity. I claim use both as positive usages, as proud of both legacies.

@ekverstania Yes it includes dyslexic people, those with learning disabilities and those with acquired brain injury etc. But still the majority of people have none of these conditions.

Does "neurodivergent" include people with neurological diseases and brain damage? If so, there are a LOT of neurodivergent people in the world. Given that millions more brains got fried by COVID-19 after this research, MOST people are probably neurodivergent now, which means...

This was discovered two years before Ali Erturk’s team found superantigenic cranial reservoirs in 60% of SARS2 convalescents years after infection, post mortem. We are heading toward an astronomic surge in neurological illnesses over the next few years. gizmodo.com/our-brains-are…

These people had to eat locusts to curb their hunger. War in Sudan has put nearly 5 million people on the brink of starvation – and only 5% of the country can afford a meal a day.

@AutismInspired Make her realize that starting a Go-fund-me to feed her autistic brother with unhealthy , highly processed food like french fries and fried chicken was very wrong. She got triggered for that.

This is my autistic brother Aser, he has the most angelic, & pure heart. During war, we're unable to provide the kind of food he eats daily due to high prices & difficulties to get the food he wants, I have started a fundraiser & you can donate here👇 paypal.com/donate/?hosted…

@NeuroArchie @ekverstania The coiner her(?)self says she meant for it to be an umbrella term for any brain divergent from the norm, incl bc of trauma-related mental illness, brain injuries, neurodegenerative disorders, etc. in this post responding to exactly this misconception 🙂: tumblr.com/sherlocksflata…

@ekverstania Originally neurodivergent meant neurological differences you’re born with. The idea behind it is it’s just a natural variation, not a disorder. Things like brain damage and disease aren’t the same.

@AutismInspired You misdiagnose cynicism with rage. All my posts are cynical of those who engage in ridicule. I am very much at rest and don't rage on twitter. You want to see rage, head over to that Palestinian woman's a/c with the autistic brother. She has rage after I called her out. 🤣

@Kristin67377787 Wording matters, yes. Your wording was clear enough. Your no meant yes, many people just misunderstood it, thinking that no meant no. But you cleared that up for us in multiple explanatory posts. This is the correct understanding now, no? twitter.com/AutisticDancer…
Autisticat@Autisticatastro

@Kristin67377787 @LansleyAnna @NeuroArchie @ekverstania Thank you for the explanation. I now understand that these words actually mean, "YES, it is developmental conditions AND brain damage. The thing about fried brains is actually pretty insulting to those on the spectrum AND to people with brain damage." twitter.com/AutisticDancer…

@AutismInspired Nope. I still believe it’s insulting. I also still believe there are diff types. The type I commented about in the initial post and after. Again wording matters. This post isn’t wrong about the innate type. And again you leave out all of what I shared

@Kristin67377787 So you're basically shifting now to talk about a different aspect of the post, so you don't have to continue defending what you originally said about the term 'neurodivergent'?

@Kristin67377787 @ekverstania Their lack of understanding may explain why they asked the question about the term in the first place. If they understood, they wouldn't have needed to ask, probably. Unless they were just doing it for effect.

@AutismInspired @ekverstania The article I shared is to help ppl understand that not all causes are due to a disease. For some it’s a state of being from birth. If you have brain damage & use the term for yourself I have no issue w it. Both are valid. The op wording shows lack of understanding of the term.

@Kristin67377787 OK. So brain damaged people are accepted—they just need that extra word ('acquired')—as long as you don't call autistic people brain damaged, unless their brains are damaged, because it's insulting to confuse disabilities, like calling people with brain damage autistic?

@AutismInspired I’m definitely not opposed to anyone using the term if that describes how they feel etc. I just want to make sure ppl understand that for some it’s not caused by a disease, it’s from birth and how we see the world differently. I want more acceptance for all types.

@Kristin67377787 @ekverstania So you don't have brain damage, but you think differently; but some people do have brain damage and they think differently; and it's a problem to you that the word 'aquired' was not used to set you apart from them?
