@danielmullen @georgebell @elie_mcn Well the Chinese government would also own the construction company, the train manufacturer and instead of negotiation of land or court hearings theyll just imminent domain the whole thing no if and buts(no Canadian would support that especially conservatives)high purchasing power

There is a railway that is effectively a straight line from Toronto to Montreal. Shown in BLUE. Building high speed rail along it would make sense. Instead, the Liberals propose a boondoggle of a line, shown in RED, that goes through all these communities they need to win.

If someone told you oil prices were up 11% and the S&P 500 was basically flat, what would you immediately think had happened?

Let me get this straight: You are locked in a war on the other side of the globe, completely dependent on European infrastructure literaly begging for us to join and you feel like flexing against a continent of several former empires with unmatched history of warfare is good, because former commie empire is digged in 2nd world country for 4 years unable to even stop the destruction of its own oil infrastructure. Buddy, you are not gonna believe that, but Germany stopping being gay, green and woke is not bad for us, but for you. Your entire world dominance stands on a deal that Europe will not militarise and will follow your lead.

Withdraw from NATO and withdraw all US troops from US bases in Europe and see how many days it takes Russia to conquer Europe.

@NikkoAndass @bratricek The F-104 becoming NATO’s standard fighter wasn’t purely organic. There were political and economic incentives tied to adopting it The Lockheed Corporation bribery scandal later revealed that officials in countries like Germany and Italy were influenced to buy it

@NikkoAndass @bratricek No it's that a whole lot of effort was put in by the United States to intentionally neuter Europe and to keep it just divided enough to prevent united mil industrial complexies...ie all the planes that got killed because some officials got bought out by Lockheed etc

@bratricek Aha. So, by your logic, the only thing stopping the entire Eurasian continent from devolving into a post-apocalyptic hellscape, is the might, will and treasure of that benighted intellectual backwater, the good 'ol US of A...? Asking for a friend.

No, whether or not we are in a ground war is irrelevant. Bridges are the lines of communication, the arteries of the warmaking machine. They are used to move troops/ resources to where they are needed or where they can obtain assistance, which changes as your opponent's offensive and defensive posture changes. This includes equipment repair, medevac, staging for beans/bullets, equipment reloctation, like mobile UAV launchers etc. The list is extremely long. I have no idea where this bridge is or how useful it is the Iran's economy (which supports the military effort).

Many Presidents had years to release the Epstein files including Democrats. Trump released by far the most. It just never occurred to you there are obvious national security reasons to withhold some information. Our founders specifically did not want the court of public opinion deciding who is guilty.

@bratricek Why do Euros think they’re doing us a favor by being incapable of their own defense. If we closed all euro bases we’d still have 100 overseas bases. Regardless of what Europe does US defense spending will either stay where it is (more than the EU combined) or increase. Go for it!

Please consider self driving cars are already here and will expand fast. Meaning robotaxi or your own car drives while you sleep for as cheap or cheaper than the high speed rail. So this will be a 90 billion waste and likely as always ballon to double or more and be virtually useless. My Tesla already drives me flawlessly to work daily. 90 billion wasted completely.
