@andytwelves @GoodwinMJ I've seen this before - Goodwin often attributes banal and arguable maxims to classical figures or academics (especially Roger Scruton), but he doesn't give the sources and they prove impossible to verify. x.com/Barthsnotes/st…
Richard Bartholomew@Barthsnotes

Matt Goodwin's latest. Few things more portentous than citing Classical sources as authorities for banal maxims, especially when formulated in such a vague and offhand way that that original passages are difficult or impossible to identify (and Pericles was not a "writer").

@andytwelves @GoodwinMJ Of course, not everything is online, but it's odd a quotable line from a famous author can't be found via Google Scholar, Google Books, Amazon's "Search Inside the Book" feature or the Internet Archive, either in their own work or quoted by anyone else. x.com/Barthsnotes/st…
Richard Bartholomew@Barthsnotes

The source of this quote from Roger Scruton via Matt Goodwin is oddly elusive - some of the vocabulary is identifiably Scurton's, but the overall passage hasn't made its way into any of the online libraries. No-one else has even quoted it.

EXC: .@GoodwinMJ’s new book “Suicide of a Nation: Immigration, Islam, Identity” is out now, and I’m only 5 chapters in and have found a huge amount of what appears to be false quotes and basic misinterpretations of data, that appear to be AI hallucinations. Matthew, can you explain the claims you made in the book that I’ve outlined in the below thread?

Freedom of speech can't be that "DEAD" seeing as Dan Wootton's threat to use privacy legislation to sue Byline Times for reporting truthful information about him didn't go anywhere.

Bishop of Willesden on the Iftar : "The public iftar in Trafalgar Square was not an act of cultural imposition, nor a signal of division. It was, rather, a moment of hospitality: an invitation to share in the breaking of the fast during Ramadan, extended by one community to the wider public. It was open, generous and peaceful. It reflected something profoundly British; the instinct to gather, to mark significant moments together, and to make space in our common life for the traditions that shape our neighbours. "To suggest that such an event is somehow threatening risks misunderstanding both the nature of religious expression and the character of our national life. Religious freedom in this country has never meant the privatisation of belief. It has meant the opposite: the right of individuals and communities to live out their faith openly, visibly and without fear. That principle applies as much to Muslims observing Ramadan as it does to Christians celebrating Easter, Jews marking Passover, Hindus celebrating Diwali, or Sikhs observing Vaisakhi." churchofengland.org/media/news-and…

So far, Christian leaders have been absent from a debate, led by politicians, about the place of faith in public life. So good to see the Bishop of Kirkstall give his perspective.

'Islam is not just seeking to be present in British culture, but it is in some cases, seeking to dominate.' @GoodwinMJ claims a mass Muslim public prayer in Trafalgar Square was 'an attempt to undermine our Christian culture and values'.

@darrengrimes x.com/ArchRose90/sta… That's odd, these Tweets are almost identical. And you're both paid up Reform members with large twitter followings. Almost as if you're being told what to say and when to say it..
Chris Rose@ArchRose90

30,000 Muslims in Birmingham participating in sex-segregated Islamic prayers in public today. Just as wrong as it was in Trafalgar Square. There are around 190–220 mosques in Birmingham which they can pray in. Again, this is asserting their dominance.

@JohnCleese Odd that Michael Palin keeps coming back from Muslim-majority countries with his head still attached, how does he manage it? Your 1978 Tunisia trip must have been terrifying.

Dear Sadiq Khan, I think some of the prejudice to do with 'singling out Muslims' is to to with their stated intention to kill 'infidels', expecially the bit about beheading them You see, the other religions don't promise that
Sadiq Khan@SadiqKhan

British values mean defending everyone’s right to practise their faith freely. In London, I’m proud Christians, Jews, Hindus, Sikhs, Muslims and others can celebrate in Trafalgar Square. Singling out Muslims isn’t ‘British values’ - it’s prejudice. mirror.co.uk/news/politics/…

Tucker Carlson whitewashed Alex Jones' claims that the parents of murdered children were liars whose dead kids never existed as "naughty opinions". Is there anything he could say or do so vile, cruel or discrediting that it would end his proximity to Repbulican power?

You know, I wasn't keen on David Icke leading an anti-vax conspiracy rally in Trafalgar Square in 2021 - but it didn't occur to me to call for it to be banned, and I don't think anyone would have regarded such a proposition as deserving serious consideration.
