One of the game I made is one sale in the Games Aid charity sale event on steam. I am giving away 100% of sales incomes after Steam cut. So happy to be able to contribute!

Panflip Studio - WISHLIST STACK ORDER!
@BenBoyerCode Not at all, but our two teams have a few similarities. We're both teams of two, and both our artists specialise in comics and graphic novels before turning to video games. Perhaps this is why the graphics are inspired by similar things!

@calintzart @cybereality People can still see the output as a valuable, there is no doubt that with enough repetitions, luck and adjustments you can get a "beautiful" output. But it is not art anymore, it's a commodity. Saying otherwise is a lie.

@calintzart @cybereality And what hurt artists is not only a money aspect, it's also the gaslighting of saying that art could be replaced by a set of instructions. No it's not. Art is meaning, intentionally and imperfections. The output of LLM vectors is just aggregated average and it will always be.

I like AI. I’ve been using it for years, before it was trendy to either worship it or hate it. I’m not anti-artist, and I’m not anti-compensation. I’m a programmer, a creator, and I make things for a living. I believe people should be paid for their work. What confuses me is how inconsistent people have become. Whenever someone posts AI-generated art, there’s this automatic response: “You should hire an artist.” Okay, fine. But when was the last time the person saying that actually hired an artist? Commissioned art. Paid a musician. Paid a game developer. Paid a writer. Usually the answer is never, or “I can’t afford it.” So we’ve reached a point where people demand ethical behavior from strangers online that they themselves do not practice. That disconnect is the core problem. It’s not AI. It’s not ethics. It’s hypocrisy. This pattern exists everywhere. People complain that a $3 mobile game is overpriced, even if it took a year to make, while happily spending $7 on a coffee without thinking twice. Then those same people turn around and argue that using AI tools is immoral because artists aren’t being paid. You cannot hold both positions at once and still be intellectually honest. I grew up in the era of piracy. Napster, torrents, bootleg games, ripped movies. Almost everyone participated. Almost no one defended copyright holders. Information wanted to be free, remember? Ad blockers became normal. Paying creators was optional at best. Now suddenly, overnight, everyone is a copyright lawyer. Every dataset is theft. Nothing is fair use. That shift didn’t come from a deep moral awakening. It came from fear and economic pressure. AI didn’t create this problem. The economy did. People are struggling. Artists are struggling. Programmers are struggling. White-collar workers are getting laid off. When people are under pressure, they look for a scapegoat. Right now, AI is convenient. It feels abstract, powerful, and out of control, so it absorbs all that anger. But attacking random people online for using tools changes nothing. That isn’t political action. It isn’t ethical reform. It’s just lashing out. If someone said, “I’m an artist, commissions are down, and I’m scared,” I’d respect that. That’s honest. What I don’t respect is turning that fear into moral grandstanding and harassment, pretending it’s about ethics when it’s really about survival. And let’s be clear: AI is not new. Machine learning has been everywhere for decades. Search engines, cameras, filters, recommendation systems, DLSS, spam filters, autocorrect. People loved all of it until the moment it started threatening creative labor directly. That’s when the story changed. So this isn’t really a debate about AI being good or bad. It’s about power, money, and anxiety in a bad economy. Tools don’t make moral choices. People and companies do. At some point, we either have an honest conversation about compensation, labor, and how value is created, or we keep yelling at each other online while nothing improves. That’s all I wanted to say. I’m not trying to convert anyone. I just wanted to say it clearly, without pretending this is something it’s not. If you disagree, that’s fine. If you agree, that’s fine too. I just wanted to get it out. Thanks for listening.

@ThePrimeagen With everyone opening issues what will happen is that at some point it will kind of work. And guess what? It will be used as a flagship to enforce agents on us. Please stop feeding the beast. Let it rot in the abyss of the web where it belongs!

@LeoWilbur At least you were smart enough to try to make the animations using a 3d model.....

@BenBoyerCode Yeah, if you look at my earliest posts I started with 3D captures to 2D iso and I got pretty far with it but honestly it was taking forever to do a single 3D model and I never got the animations right. This sidescrolling action with hand drawn keys gave me more control 🤓

@LeoWilbur Yeah it's a hell lot of work, my partner and I decided to hand drawn a 8 direction isometric arpg all in 2d. The time it takes is insane, and we of course will not support swappable gear haha

@BenBoyerCode Haha, yeah, it was a tough decision 🥲but I'm going to have switchable gear in the game and you can't really do that with frame by frame. I need to add more key poses for the walk and run cycles so they look less stiff. Thank you for the feedback!

I vibe coded this non maintainable project that looks good but is actually just a shell of a project that won't be scalable or playable in any reasonable capacity! "OMG RIP GAME DEV" "no need to learn to code" "Wow that's AMAZING" "[insert ai model] is the best!"

@ShmoolGames Nice work! Honestly I prefer without the shadow shader, it's less distracting for the eyes. But I can see it as a useful thing to emphasis on obstacles or thing with height on the main slop.
