MASH was wonderful at the beginning, but after Wayne Rogers (Trapper John) , McClean Stevenson (Col. Henry Blake) and finally Larry Linville (Frank Burns) left to me the show was over. Really after they killed off Stevenson in a contract dispute the show was never the same as the original. But those first seasons were fabulous.

I completely missed M*A*S*H growing up. Seeing these clips now, I finally understand why so many of you love it. It has such a dry, clever kind of humor. And Hawkeye, wow, love him. Was this a regular watch for you?

True story: Years ago I took my family to Charleston to see the sites for a weekend one summer. We decided to take an open-air horse & carriage ride through the historic district. We foolishly did not account for the heat and being in the middle of July we just baked in the sun. After a while no one cared about the sites and we just wanted to get into some AC. Towards the end of the ride, our driver pulls up to this gorgeous old house and asks us if we're thirsty. Were all dying of thirst and he shows us this 11 year old kid who has a lemonade stand at the end of his driveway. There are three other carriages in front of us. The kid charges $5 per small glass and we give him a $20 in a heartbeat. All the drivers drink for free the kid said. I do some quick math and see with our carriage, the kid made $80 bucks in 10 minutes. He had a folding table, a huge container of Wylers, sugar and water plus cups. That is it. When we got up to his stand and were served there were about four carriages behind us. I began figuring the math for this little kid. I figured during the afternoon he was making about $1440 per HOUR ($20 per carriage x 10 minutes = $200 every 10 minutes x 6 (1 hour) = $240/ hr x 6 hours per day = $1440/ day x 6 days per week = $8640 per week. So for some reason divide it by 2 and he still makes $4320 PER WEEK. By himself at 11 yrs old. I found myself being insanely jealous of some little kid. But its a great story of "find a need and fill it"....

14 year old kid in my neighborhood came by my house. Very sharp. Polite, “Yes Sir” and “No Sir”. Business card and everything. Offered to power wash, soap, and clean out my garbage cans. $25/can. I said, sure. Why not. They’re gross. I’ve got 2, so gave him $50. I asked how many houses he did in our neighborhood. “All of them. About 60.” And how often do you do them? “I try to do quarterly.” $3000 a quarter for a freshman. Of course…he also does power washing, snow shoveling, window cleaning, all of the above. Building a mailing list and referrals. Said he’s recruited two friends to help him do the work. Savvy kid. Going to do well in this world.
