@One_Crypto_Lord The worst part of all this is that for Kraken you can’t even download a .csv of your trades like in the past. Idk if that’s just on my end or system wide. I was fortunate to get my Coinbase last month. But crickets for Kraken.

Coinbase told users they’d have their 1099-DA by February 17. Then it was March 17. Now some people are hearing later. Let’s not even mention Kraken. This is the first year exchanges have ever had to do this. They’re figuring it out in real time. And when the forms do arrive, most of them will show proceeds with no cost basis. So you’ll get a late form that’s also incomplete. The IRS isn’t waiting though. They already have their copy. The matching system will compare what Coinbase reported against what you file. If your numbers don’t line up, you’ll hear about it 12-18 months from now. If you haven’t received yours yet, file an extension and wait. You need to see what your exchange sent to the IRS before you file so your numbers match. Filing without the form is how mismatches happen. Just remember the extension gives you more time to file, not more time to pay. Estimate what you owe and pay by April 15.

The boys came home from school yesterday and said none of their fellow students were mocking Charlie’s murder and they were surprised. That led to a convo about potential nefarious actors stoking the flames of discontent and how they needed to be discerning when viewing socials.

What’s sad about this list is that the number one college for free speech gets a B- (80). The next 25 get a C. And the remaining 224 get a D or below. Free speech was supposed to thrive in college. Now it’s where it goes to die.
