🚨 NEW: Workers rights legislation changes to be unveiled on Thursday by Labour The changes mean over 7 million people will gain sick pay, maternity pay, and unfair dismissal protection from their 1st day in work instead of having to wait 6 months * Universal entitlement to sick pay for all workers from the 1st day they are ill * If earning below the £123 threshold will get a lower rate of sick pay * Mothers will be entitled to apply for maternity pay from their 1st day. Fathers get more rights to paternity pay * Probation periods shrunk to 6 months and staff will get protection against unfair dismissal from their 1st day * The power to sack unsatisfactory workers during probation periods will remain without a full performance management process * Advisory for right to disconnect for employees [@thetimes]
