Screenshot is from pib.gov.in/PressReleasePa… dated 15 Dec 2021. @GoI_MeitY @AshwiniVaishnaw - pls tell us how close are we to ">20 Indian fabless companies with >Rs 1500 crore revenue" (even if not annually, in combined 5 yrs) ? How about an honest discussion in SEMICON 2026 ?

There is a tiger finally found a place to live his life, far from the hassles of jungle companionship, far from earthly desires. It reached the only peninsular state without any tiger to make it home. But the forest department doesn't like it, they want it to have a tigress.

Arctus Aerospace built the AX1 in 150 days. With a team of 10 people. It's a 200 kg Earth observation UAV that can fly for 10 hours at 20,000 feet. Here's Runtime's conversation with Shreepoorna S Rao, the founder of Arctus Aerospace.

first up massive news !! secondly 8K TPA is a good start for a country than made only ~400/yr......i have several reasons to pt out to why T700 will be the focus eventhough NAL's CF-1 is comparable with T300 standard modulus .............1/n

Challo, first real confirmation that Reliance carbon fiber facility in Surat, Gujarat is actually under construction. A yookay firm got equipment orders + another local EPC company last month. This facility will have capacity 20000 tons/yr CF, ~10% of global capacity.

@pk00202500 The fact that new suzuki plant in Kharkhoda and upcoming one in Gujarat each will have more capacity than that highly publicized BYD plant. When they talk about BYD they conveniently club every business together battery, EMS, semi, Bus, car to make it look bigger.

@nano_arun @Eveosian If its HBM or advance packaging like 3D or chiplet then it should be done, otherwise their is little reason to approve such a big project now.

@nano_arun Actually GaN fab is very important from the military point of view as It is very crucial for radars. And in the article they have mentioned that, the government has asked them to look into this.

May be a good idea now that Kaynes would have started making money from OSAT Tech partner and location for GaN fab will be interesting to watch out for moneycontrol.com/technology/kay…

@nano_arun @neelkanthmishra Not sure, but I know that Adani also wanted tower to have more skin in the game, which led to some internal discord. So beggars can't be choosers may not have come from them. But yes Tower similar to PSMC didn't want to put their own money.

Push Tata to advance node (since they are hoped to have a pilot 28nm line by 2029 hopefully and in prod by 2030ish) and get another Mature node fab (with some specialization) is still a possibility, but 1 L cr may not be enough if lot more supply chain aspects are supported
Booop@Booophook

@nano_arun Yes, I always hoped for a SMIC, grace like setup. Where one will push for advanced nodes and another one as backup with mature node capacity.

@nano_arun Yes, they were made to wait for too long. But never too late to get a technology licence as Israel may favour having a production line in India, far from conflict zone.

@nano_arun @bheemmz I don't think any new osat of tata, micron scale(2-3b$) will be approved. Any new osat approved will be smaller capacity and very specific technology focused, like the 3DGS. I remember wipro is also looking to enter osat.

@bheemmz OSAT support % will be reduced (almost for sure) Fab I am not sure, I guess even if the 50% is offered (+20-25% from state), the question is who. 2nm/3nm fab (or through 16 & 7) as extension of Tata 28nm may be more like $15b - and that is what GoI may incentivise (% tb seen).

@Booophook True, options may have been less. Let us hope they will have a multi-layer (one layer specifically for the facility, the rest can be more generic) protection implemented
