the movie made it really clear she didn’t like him and that she looked at him like a bother, hence the weird hansel and gretel incest story. i doubt they’d be on a date talking like this if he’d just asked
xan loves OBSESSION@ColonelCochise

the dinner scene in OBSESSION makes me sad for a few reasons but one is because they act so genuine as a couple with each other at first, Bear saying he’d be a food critic and Nikki joking about how he puts ketchup on his steak like this coulda been real if he just asked her out

Thats not how it works, if i deem that NONE of you have the character or the courage to do what is necessary, why should I vote for anyone on the ballot? The only way I would vote is if there was an option for “NO”. And writing in is not the same as “NO”. “NO” means that none of these candidates qualify, and that the seat should remain open until someone who is fit to be in that position is found. This entire system is a fraudulent one, especially in the state of California. Voting within a fraudulent system legitimizes this system with my voluntary consent to participate in a broken and fraudulent system. This government has robbed the residents and citizens of california more than any violent criminal could combined. Billions of dollars either embezzled, laundered, or just incompetently spent. Because none of you will do what is necessary to cease the robbery of the hard working people of this state, i will never participate and further legitimize this system that is only designed to rob from people. You and your mindset is EXACTLY why I will never vote.

If you don't vote, I don't want to hear you ever complain about any of the filth, crime, or decline in LA again. Get off your butt and VOTE, or enjoy what you get.

Obsession is a story about male cowardice, female desperation, and the nightmare of getting what you want. First, you have to understand the terrifying idea the film keeps circling around, an idea that has absolutely nothing to do with the supernatural: robkhenderson.com/p/shes-the-mon…

Like honestly "it's going to take us several weeks to tell you who won the election" is failed state shit and should be much more stigmatized.

The fact that California elections often can't be resolved for weeks is kind of insane and not common in other electoral systems around the world.

I didn't try to "cancel" anything. I *explicitly* say, if being a culture warrior/ polemicist makes you happy, you should absolutely do that. I simply note that this is an importantly *different* project from disciplined/ empirical social scientific research. I explicitly say the editors *should* publish work by you or anyone that makes a genuine contribution, but should *not* publish culture war dreck regardless of which way it cuts. That was my only advice to the editors. I hope you'd agree, on principle, with that advice -- even if we're in a deep disagreement about whether the essay in question falls into the one camp or the other. Incidentally, this interaction and the others are nice exemplifications of my comments about your general temperament and modes of interaction. In any event, you do you. Literally, no one tried to stop you. Instead, again, these messages explicitly state that you should do what brings you fulfillment, and that editors should publish any essay that makes a genuine contribution, irrespective of author.

Dear @Musa_alGharbi, I'm sorry to hear that your attempt to cancel my publications at @Theory_Society behind my back proved futile. In a fair world, you should be able to have a Star Chamber with other like-minded professors to ensure that nobodies such as myself are stopped from publishing their works. Regarding my "crap books," I'm sorry to report to you that Suicidal Empathy debuted at #1 on the New York Times Bestseller lists, along with innumerable other bestseller lists around the world. I suppose that millions of people love my "crappy work" whereas the world will soon learn to appreciate your lofty academic standards. Cheers buddy. You are the real deal. I'm just a poser.

Actually, you know what... *do* get me started on Gad Saad. I'm a fan of transparency, so here is what I said in a group chat that includes T&S sociologist editors/ editorial board members when I heard the journal was considering a piece by him, potentially tied to his crap books. Seems they decided to proceed anyway, to my disappointment.

Henry Nowak was kind, thoughtful and much-loved. His life was stolen from him, leaving his family and loved ones devastated. The bodycam footage is harrowing. It’s absolutely right that the IOPC is looking at this. There are serious questions for the police to answer.

@NateSilver538 It’s mainly due to mail in ballots and strict verification in a very large electorate not necessarily a system failure.

Happy Pride Month. If you're a gay man, please remember your power. People often think that gay men are innately fashionable, which means if you wear some stupid shit for long enough, straight people, including homophobes, will copy you and then you can laugh at them.

Spoilers - Obsession is ultimately a film about how ordinary men can commit extraordinary violence while genuinely believing they're the victims. How a "nice guy" can wish someone into a cage and then slowly rationalize why he shouldn't let them out. How the distance between fantasy and reality can cost lives. #Obsession

This scene pisses me off so bad because Bear wanted nothing more than for this poor girl to be completely infatuated with him but when he sees her covered in piss and shit and vomit, he gets mad and upset instead of caring for her in any way.
BNJ@69669538i

OBSESSION, la scène où Nicky attend Bear toute la journée montre surtout une vision fantasmée typique d’un regard incel : elle n’existe qu’en fonction de lui. Sans lui, elle semble “vide”, comme si son identité dépendait entièrement de son regard

@cinemattie The need to find a villain/hero in every movie shows how rotted the human brain is from non-stop marvel and Star Wars slop

Mattie, the Woman Clothed by the Sun
"Nikki isn't the villain in Obsession, Bear is." CORRECT! That does not, however, prevent the movie from treating her like a psycho girlfriend trope. The movie is playing to male anxieties while pretending to be a feminist text on "nice guys" trying to possesses women.
