Dear friends, grab the popcorn.
As usual - we try to explain what is going on and where all this shit is mooving.
If anyone still doubts that Trump might launch a ground operation in Iran - a country bigger than Ukraine - one that could drag on for years, here are a few talking points to chew on.
@POTUS no longer seems convinced that a “big, beautiful ocean” safely separates him from other continents. And as strange as it sounds, Ukraine once again finds itself in the footnotes of this story.

1. Donnie is bleeding political ground at home, losing city after city to Democrats. And in that kind of climate, how do you maintain control over all those carefully accumulated family “business achievements” if Congress suddenly rediscovers its backbone?
The answer isn’t complicated. Donnie - with his well-documented fondness for strongman aesthetics - appears to have taken notes from Ukraine’s wartime extension of presidential authority under President Zelenskyy. Hence the dramatic gesture of reframing institutions and rhetoric toward a permanent war footing.
That’s how you get talk of renaming the Department of Defense into a “Department of War” - a move that at the time sounded like another red-haired fever dream. You might think it’s just branding. But branding shapes reality. If the electorate hears “war” every day, the condition of war becomes normalized. And the aging showman understands broadcast psychology better than most - television once convinced half the country he was a business genius.
You may think semantics don’t matter?

3. Moving on. Trump, well aware of the consequences of launching a war while styling himself a peacemaker and unifier, cannot be entirely certain that the public wouldn’t demand elections — elections he might seek to postpone under a declared state of emergency, perhaps borrowing procedural inspiration from Ukraine’s wartime legal framework.
Here again, the Zelenskyy case becomes rhetorically useful. One must first craft the narrative explaining why elections cannot occur in a country at war. Hence the one of past high-profile interview to #Politico in which Donnie urges President Zelenskyy to hold elections - irony served neat, no ice. politico.com/news/2025/12/0…

And for a further glimpse at how Fred’s boy studies the playbooks of leaders who aren’t exactly poster children for liberal democracy, look no further than his exchanges with President Nayib Bukele from El Salvador, that we have published long ago, when all these waves started.
