@sweatystartup Yeah, I can't agree with this at all, respectfully It's basically allowed my work to go as fast as I can think

I don’t know a single A player who is gung ho about AI. It’s the opportunity of a generation for C players to try and hide how much they suck.

I have made the difficult decision to leave @OpenAI. Working here and at @xai before was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I have met the best people. Not the best people in AI. Not the best people in tech. Simply the best people. At these companies, I have helped creating extremely intelligent entities that will meaningfully improve our lives. The work makes me proud. But the intensive work came with a price. I cannot believe I would say this one day, but I am burnt out. All the mental health deteriorating that I used to scoff at is real, miserable, scary, and dangerous. I am going to take a break from frontier AI labs, and will take my family to my home country Vietnam. There, I will try something new, and also search for a cure for my conditions. I hope I will heal. Until then.

@hyhieu226 Anytime I needed to do things with git, I would look up the "just simple $@%#" page for git. I barely remembered it. Also, there was so many unnecessary things that folks told me I should learn. My thought was "focus on building great products, not learning hyped libraries."

I am so glad I didn't spend any time in college learning Mercurial or Git. It is a good part of my workflow that AI killed. Thank you AI.

@callmeed @businessbarista Technical interviews have always been ridiculous It should be more about critical thinking and thinking outside the box then "traverse this dataset in O(1)"

@businessbarista The real underlying question is “should you still be interviewing for the same skill sets/signals as before?”

I spoke to the VP of AI at a $6bn company today. He's struggling with something that every technology leader is facing right now... How to efficiently interview engineers. Historically, companies would have an interview process that would look something like this: 1) 30-minute behavioral interview (recruiter) 2) 2 45-minute technical coding interview 3) Interview with hiring manager/team 4) Optional: more technical coding interviews Issue is, technical coding interviews are f*cked. Thanks to coding agents, almost anything is vibe codeable at this point. That means technical interviews are now low signal for: - Deep understanding of your codebase - Mastery of end-to-end systems design - Actual experience in production systems - Solid foundations in computer science People are trying to introduce clever solutions to this problem: @adcock_brett created a 30-challenge technical interview. if you build a computer use agent to solve all 30 challenges in 5 minutes you're offered "$500k/year in cash plus several million in equity." @garrytan and @ycombinator gave applicants an option to attach "a coding agent session you're particularly proud of." These are really interesting tactics, but I don't feel like anyone has discovered the panacea. Whoever builds the post-AI LeetCode is going to make a gajillion dollars.

@gabednconfused lol when we opened our first hotel in Times Square, some VCs reached out for some free rooms to “preview” - they checked out and then ghosted us, like $3000 worth of rooms

A VC who turned us down last year on a CRAZY lead-on process, talking lack of applications and scalability to our tech, writes me a congrats email, telling me I should remember his patent law firm, which has a "thriving battery chemistry and additive" sector. Good enough to take our money but not good enough to invest huh lol

Question for movie people: If nobody buys a ticket for a screening, do they still play the movie? 🤔

@businessbarista My parents would never want that, could've retired years ago but decided not to They like bringing value to folks and getting things done Still wouldn't do the other three things though I'd probably build generational wealth for my family to help them to go for their dreams

...his voice be used indefinitely for Darth Vader, so Disney never had to re-cast it and he could remain the character They did this with a model they trained on his voice That's why we were able to have Darth Vader respond to players in Fortnite earlier this year
