Shibuya was already headed in this direction even before the overtourism. That and COVID just accelerated all the changes.
Also, it’s pretty much inevitable that a formerly hip and unique neighborhood will eventually no longer be hip and unique when it becomes mainstream.

Most kids I've taught for the past decade only read the most trendy manga, now. Only a few got into it as a whole media, and specifically said they always waited for huge bundles to go on sale at local BOOK OFFs because that was the only way they could afford anything.
