Franz Joseph, the quintessential Habsburg, and Theodore Roosevelt, the epitome of New York, met when TR came to Vienna in 1905. The former president asked KFJ what his role was as modern Monarch. “Protecting my people from their politicians,” he said.

@IncredPapist_ I haven't seen a single leftoid who renounced his possessions and slept with the migrants in a building/place designated for them and did unpaid charity work from the good of his heart. It's always the taxpayer while they live in their gated communities.

@IncredPapist_ According to leftoids Christianity is about a secular social gospel stripped of all supernatural elements, universal fraternity independent of creed and twisting charity from an obligation of personal charity into taxpayer charity so that leftoids don't have to pay for it.

I find this attitude among Catholics so disheartening. No actually, potential converts being scandalised by the words of the Church hierarchy is not the fault of the potential convert. The Church leadership ought to speak more carefully, and only insist on actual teachings.
English Catholic@FaithandFooty_

@IncredPapist_ Don't worry about it. They aren't serious. If that's the reason they don't value eternal salvation, they'd have just found something else to use to excuse themselves of having to abide by the disciplines Christ's Church demand

@b0rtcask1 @Osarseph0 Well I was on the verge of agreeing with Louis Claude de Saint Martin at one point in time that clerical expressions of religion equal worldliness and obscurantism. It took massive inner resistance to avoid being deeply affected by the garbage NO priests spread in their sermons.

Not going to open the can of worms of migration but many Catholics stick with it due to a sunk cost fallacy. If you don't like contemporary Catholicism, just dump it. You have no idea how easy it is. Little of the stuff happening in the Church at this point is supernatural.

@Osarseph0 @b0rtcask1 I keep the basic Catholic/Biblical worldview (particularly fallen nature of humanity, sacraments, decalogue, original sin, tendency towards evil etc.) and drastically extend my spiritual life with esoteric metaphysics. I ditched the Court of Rome over 10 years ago.

@b0rtcask1 Bailing is always an option, but honestly, there is nowhere else really to go for Christians than the Catholic Church.

@DamianMihaii Not even that. The Court of Rome's new human centred religion doesn't limit it to Christians, it preaches universal fraternity with Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs etc. That's why the Court of Rome is deemed a worldly NGO by many on my side. It's a total cesspit and a den of vice.

@Catholic8941 They don't care. The wellbeing of Europe is not a factor. The pope sees that some brown Christians live in poverty so his priority is to "help them".

At this stage it is very difficult not to say that the Court of Rome is the greatest ally of these socially liberal anti-Abrahamic weirdos. They have an ahistorical parody pseudo religion right in front of them that they can milk for years with polemical takes.
Incredulous Papist@IncredPapist_

I’ve now had two people tell me that Pope Leo’s comments about immigration have put them off converting to Catholicism. At what point do we accept that such comments are scandalous and harmful to the faith?

@DamianMihaii The Court of Rome speaks as if limits have not been exceeded many years ago. Generosity has its limits and Europe has done more than enough. Prudence must balance charity as St. Thomas pointed out. We face housing shortages, increasing poverty, welfare cuts etc. at home.

@Catholic8941 There's nothing in the words of the pope that would contradict traditional Christianity. Why do Catholics seem suddenly surprised when the pope thinks that western countries have a moral duty to the third world?

I do suspect that if Restore cost Reform the victory in Makerfield it will be one of the biggest acts of right-wing self-harm this decade. Even if you don’t think Reform are right-wing enough, putting Burnham in to do his constitutional vandalism will be a long-term catastrophe.

Someone dedicated to the cause of the poor would renounce worldly possessions and sleep with the migrants in the asylum centre while taking care of them. That is true humility. Not the hypocrisy of the Court of Rome and leftoids. They live in luxury and preach modesty for others

The Christian view has throughout history never been the following: a country is supposed to take in an unlimited number of people who crossed dozens of stable countries illegally, and you have to fund and feed them to detriment of your own vulnerable people.
May Winter@MSugma71483

@Alex_Fairfax06 The Vikings were a conquering military force, not simply defenceless migrants just trying to escape poverty. The Catholic Church has always distinguished between the two. x.com/msugma71483/st…

Leftoids are ruthless and self-righteous grifters who virtue signal on the back of the taxpayer. They rarely donate their own money and they live in gated communities. Everything about them screams hypocrite and divisive. They do not practice the gospel.

The new religion of the Court of Rome is entirely human-centred, and obsessed with man-made divisive liberal approaches. Whether that is blessing gay marriages or pushing infinity migration. The "social gospel" stripped of all supernatural elements.

@James_II_1688 I did an ancestry test and geneaology tracing some time ago and it confirmed that I have Savoyard ancestry. My interest in France and Italy is therefore linked by ancestry than just mere ideological support.
