@CatholicASAP I was recounting my conversation with my sponsor. I don’t give a shit about some random person on the internet who hides behind an anonymous account casting doubt on it.

Yesterday my sponsor and I talked about Scripture, and something he said really bothered me. He said, “In the old days we didn’t read the Bible. The Church didn’t want people reading it and figuring everything out for themselves.” I understand the Church’s reasoning, but as a former Protestant I still struggle with that claim, especially since popes encouraged laypeople to read Scripture even before Vatican II, including in the Catechism of Pope Pius X. Catholics need to strengthen their approach to exegesis. Protestants have been ahead in that area for far too long.

@CharlesTingler Fire away. Sounds fishy and just a silly statement for someone to say and even a sillier thing for someone to believe

How are people still tricked by this god stuff in 2026? I get it in 1026 when your entire world was a square mile in size. We see 13 billion light years in to the universe now and have science and technology. I don’t get it.

UFC middleweight Joe Pyfer reveals finding God and becoming a Christian changed his life “I’ve had a complete 360 change as far as my faith. I had an out of body experience where I was able to see myself in a different light. I want marriage and God at the center of my life”

As an Evangelical, I absolutely think that I have many brothers and sister in the Catholic Church. I am asking this sincerely: do Catholics feel the same? (P.s. any bashing on either side in the comments is getting an instant block)

@DiscoverJesus3 @David_wthebeard Original sin rightly understood is correct. Total depravity is not. Something bad and perfected is perfectly bad. Something good that is perfected is perfectly good. God perfects and makes us very good the way he made humans to be

@David_wthebeard Yet another example of the brainwashing from reformed theology. Jesus never mentioned the fall of Adam and never taught any theology of original sin or total depravity. Original sin / total depravity was never a part of Hebrew theology. Jesus calls you his child, born in the image of God, his handiwork and masterpiece, and the light of the world! You are born human! You are born with a heart capable of divine love and capable of missing the mark. It is called being human - not totally depraved. Stop listening to the lie from the reformed evangelical church and follow Jesus instead!

@DiscoverJesus3 He didn’t deconstruct it he fulfilled it. He was very clear “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them”

It is shocking when you discover that Jesus deconstructed the Bible. Jesus - “You have heard it said, BUT I say…”

@BilltheCatGuy1 @MrsCMFrancis The Bible doesn’t teach sola scriptura so it is you who aren’t following the Bible and following man made tradition. It’s ironic

@MrsCMFrancis You have very few brothers and sisters in the Catholic Church. If they reject sola scriptura and salvation only by faith in Christ only then they're not saved.

No, catholics worship a different Jesus than the biblical Jesus. When the Catholic Church added works to the requirements for salvation, they created a gospel that is not found in the Holy Bible. The Catholic church has deckared that anyone who believes you are saved through faith alone in Jesus Christ by grace alone is anathema. The Catholic Church has also created another Jesus, one who can be conjured by a Catholic priest and transubstantiated into physical matter. There is no Jesus who can be conjured or transubstantiated into anything, period. Completely pagan in nature and totally unbiblical. The end of this is that most every Catholic is unsaved because they believe a false gospel and worship a false Jesus. Are there saved catholics? Yes! How? They have read the word of God, and through the guidance of the Holy Spirit, have developed a personal relationship with Jesus through His word. (Romans 10:17)

Most Catholics don't know their own theology well enough to know that the "correct" answer is that no, you are not. The RCC teaches that you cannot find full salvation outside of the RCC. So basically evangelicals are on the same side as Buddhists, Muslims, etc, who the RCC has lately come to say are all moving towards God in some way but are not saved in a full sense. So anyone who tells you yes in this thread is technically a bad Catholic. Ironically. Personally as a non-Catholic Reformed evangelical believer myself I am fully convinced that any kind of gatekeeping is foolish and the Lord will judge the hearts of all. So we're supposed to try to sharpen each other in the faith while spending more time working out our own salvation with fear and trembling, than trying to judge who all gets to go in.

@MrsCMFrancis Yes we accept your baptism. If you came into the Catholic Church you would not be re baptized . Many evangelicals don’t consider us Christian which is the dumbest position possible but evangelicals aren’t known for being very smart

The Catholic Church interpreted the Bible and lied to the people. Then Martin Luther called them out for their corruption and hypocrisy. If it wasn't for Martin Luther the Bible never would've been translated to the German language so the people could read it for themselves.

@jamestalarico @ZachWLambert Unless it is understood as dying to self and being a new creation in Christ. In that sense it’s good that all of us die to ourselves

"And you were dead in your trespasses and sins in which you previously walked according to the ways of this world... But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love that he had for us, made us alive with Christ... You are saved by grace!" (Ephesians 2:1, 3-5)

The Trinity was not ruptured at the cross. Father, Son, and Spirit were united in the act of atonement. Keeping this in view guards against many theological errors!
