Jesus was not the king that the Jewish leaders expected and different than the king we might expect. Jesus is the king who: - preaches turn the other cheek - blesses the meek - takes good news to the poor - intentionally chooses women for leadership - washes the feet of others - preaches radical inclusion - interpreted the law through eyes of compassion - taught that others would know they are his followers by how they love others!

@Louhahn15 Every parable told by Jesus is about the kingdom of God. In this parable, Jesus teaches that the Father (God) fully atones and forgives his prodigal son with no debt repaid and no blood or sacrifice required. Jesus never needed any blood to forgive anyone!

@Louhahn15 @NewEcclesiastes Jesus never taught original sin or total depravity. Jesus never taught biblical inerrancy. Jesus never taught that he came to take our punishment. Jesus never taught that there was any payment due at all. Jesus never taught that his blood paid any price.

The table of Jesus always has room for more. Do we spend our time building larger tables or building walls to keep others out? On a hillside in Galilee, thousands of people were saved and transformed as they listened to Jesus who told them that belonged, blessed, and were loved!

Many of us were taught to read the Bible as if every verse carries equal clarity about God. But, the Bible is not Jesus. But Jesus gives us a different center. Jesus is the lens. We don’t interpret Jesus through Scripture. We interpret Scripture through Jesus. Through his life. His teachings. Because if Jesus is the fullest revelation of God, then everything else must be understood in that light.

On his last night on earth, Jesus changes the meaning of Passover from remembering the exodus to remembering him. On this night of the last supper, Jesus washes the feet of his disciples including Judas. Amazing! Jesus teaches to love others as he has loved them.

Jesus died for liars. Jesus died for hypocrites. Jesus died for porn addicts. Jesus died for murderers. Jesus died for sinners. The love that Jesus has for you is so much greater than the thing you think disqualifies you.

Jesus did not teach that you are separated from God. Jesus did not teach any theology of original sin. Jesus taught us to deconstruct from rigid readings of scripture - “You have heard it said, but I say …

The Jewish culture labels the following as sinners: Poor Blind Oppressed The unclean Gentiles Jesus hung out with sinners to tell them they belong and that they are blessed. The existing church had excluded many who Jesus welcomed with radical inclusion. @shane_pruitt78

Jesus didn't hangout with sinners because he affirmed and accepted their lifestyles. He spent time with sinners to show them their need for a Savior, and to teach them a different way of living.
