Let me explain what I mean about the quota incentivizing selling out.
The milk you produced used to have value. It doesn't any longer. Not in the way you think.
Now, the real value is in the derivative. The pounds of quota you own. Something that had zero value...

JR nailed it. Our milk coop is down to just 561 members. The quota system meant to save, now incentivizes selling out. We're bleeding out and nobody cares because those that are left think they'll be the able to get a bigger slice of the pie as they set on the ashes and crow.

Took a look at Oregon IP28 (PEACE Act) today, & it’s a direct attack on hunters and ranchers. It’s gathering signatures now for 2026. Here’s exactly what it would do: - Bans all hunting, fishing & trapping. Deer season, elk hunts, bass fishing, even rodent control on your land? Criminalized. - Makes raising & slaughtering livestock a crime. Every steer I send to harvest becomes “causing death of an animal.” Family ranches shut down overnight. - Outlaws normal ranch practices. Dehorning, castration, branding, AI breeding (now called “sexual assault of an animal”) all gone. - Forces impossible pet-level care rules “Adequate” shelter, bedding, exercise for every cow in coastal Oregon winter = guaranteed citations. - Lifetime ban on owning animals after one conviction. - Takes effect in just 30 days, no phase-in. This isn’t stopping abuse, it’s ending our way of life. DO NOT SIGN. Spread the word and kill this at the ballot box

3 days after posting this I got shingles manifesting in my neck. A burning rash and blinding pain straight out of my spine. Barely contained as of this afternoon.
