Yesterday, I made the four-hour drive to one of our remote communities outside Accra — and I wasn't in just any vehicle; I was behind the wheel of a Nissan Terrano 4x4. En route to the community, the vehicle's right lower control arm snapped. To make matters worse, we were completely outside mobile network coverage, making it impossible to call for help. And given the brutal condition of the road, even if we had been able to reach someone, it was clear that no tow truck could ever navigate its way out there. We had no choice but to press on — driving the car in that compromised state, the tyre grinding against the wheel arch and the steering barely offering ten degrees of movement in either direction. On the return journey, around 6 to 7 in the evening, we came across a tricycle that had toppled over on the path. Despite our own ordeal, we stopped and got out to help. That single moment said everything. People continue to push back when I say these tricycles are simply not built to withstand these roads. So for those asking what a viable alternative looks like, I've attached an image of what I believe is a far more suitable option for terrain like this. For God and Country 🦁🇬🇭
