Slightly spicy VTuber take: If your stream only becomes entertaining when chat is active, you're putting too much pressure on your audience. Chat should enhance the stream, not carry it. The stream needs to be alive even when chat slows down. Otherwise every quiet moment turns into dead air. If you struggle to do this on you're own, it's completely okay to not only watch creators or Let's Plays that do it well, but also bring a friend or multiple on with you to keep conversation flowing.
