THE FREQUENCY THEY CHOSE FOR YOU (AND WHY MUSICIANS WERE NEVER ASKED) – ERASED CENTURY! A440, 432 Hz, Verdi tuning, the 1939 London pitch conference, and the loss of local musical standards all converge in one overlooked history of modern sound. This documentary examines how A=440 became the international reference pitch, how earlier systems like France’s diapason normal and scientific pitch were proposed, and why musicians were often sidelined as standards bodies and broadcasters took control. In May 1939, delegates met in London under British Standards and endorsed A=440, a decision later reinforced internationally through ISO 16. Earlier efforts pointed elsewhere: France adopted the diapason normal in 1859, and 19th-century debates over pitch included concerns from singers, instrument makers, and composers such as Verdi. Long before that, Joseph Sauveur proposed a mathematically elegant “scientific pitch” with middle C at 256 Hz. This episode traces the struggle between local tuning traditions, mathematical systems, performer needs, and broadcast-era standardization. It explores why pitch varied widely before the 20th century, why 440 appealed to engineers and manufacturers, what Verdi actually argued in the 1880s, and how later 432 Hz debates mixed real archival history with exaggerated modern mythology. It also reviews the modern evidence carefully. Small peer-reviewed studies have reported lower heart rate or reduced stress markers under 432 Hz in some listening conditions, but the research base remains limited and far from proving the sweeping claims often made online. This documentary separates the documented history of tuning standards from the pseudoscientific noise surrounding the topic. If you are interested in hidden history, music history, A440, 432 Hz, Verdi tuning, scientific pitch, concert pitch, acoustics, radio standardization, instrument design, and the forgotten politics of sound, this documentary connects those threads through standards records, music history, and modern research. After last night bombing bonanza by Iran - no commercial plane is able to land in Ben Gurion International Airport which is damaged. Now all the settlers who were promised free land in the West Bank which they can steal from Palestinians, are fleeing by the land border with Egypt or Jordan, or if they are rich they can charter a private yacht for their family at USD 20,000 to take them to Cyprus island which is about 300 km away. The total urban and industrial areas of Israel is very small - about the size of the city of Paris (100 sq km). With no more interceptors and early warning radars, at the rate Iran is bombing Israel - by 30 March 2026 most building in Tel Aviv and Haifa will be razed to the ground.
