Bittersweet day. Today uneventfully ends 17 years employed at Virginia Tech. It was a great run and great memories. Now begins the next chapter of my journey as I take the role of student. Graduate student. In a new direction to full-time pursue my PhD! 🙂

@PhDForum I started mine at 38 as a single mum with a 6 month old baby and graduated 5 years later. No regrets! Definitely go for it!

DM: I’m 48 and considering starting a self funded PhD. Luckily, being older, I’m financially secure but I’m concerned I’ve left it too late! Does anyone have any experiences they can share of doing their PhD later in life?
