Research shows that regularly practicing gratitude can lead to measurable changes in the brain. This effect is driven by neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to reorganize itself based on repeated thoughts and behaviors. When people intentionally focus on appreciation, neural pathways involved in emotional control and coping become stronger. Grateful thinking also stimulates the release of dopamine and serotonin, chemicals linked to pleasure and motivation, while helping reduce cortisol, the hormone associated with stress. Brain regions such as the prefrontal cortex and hypothalamus become more active, supporting improved mood regulation and overall mental health. Over time, gratitude does more than provide short-term emotional relief. It gradually shifts the brain away from its natural bias toward threat detection and toward noticing positive experiences instead. Simple habits like writing down what you’re thankful for or expressing appreciation aloud reinforce these patterns, making optimistic thinking more automatic. Studies indicate that this repeated practice builds lasting neural connections, promoting emotional balance, resilience, and well-being. In essence, regularly acknowledging what’s going well can retrain the brain showing that small daily moments of gratitude can produce meaningful, long-term psychological benefits.

Think we'll be watching Second Hand Lions tomorrow. I know Robert Duvall played a lot of great roles, but it's one of my favorites and the husband hasn't seen it.

Thank you, Ambassador Huckabee, for stating your position on this issue. Today on my national radio show (9:00 am — noon ET) I am going to share your statement with my audience and explain why as a Catholic Christian I respectfully disagree with your defense of Christian Zionism in response to the Patriarchs’ recent statement. @relevantradio Listen: relevantradio.com/patrick
Ambassador Mike Huckabee@GovMikeHuckabee

In response to the statement of non-evangelical churches in Israel, I issued the following. I hope you will read prayerfully. I love my brothers and sisters in Christ from traditional, liturgical churches and respect their views, but I do not feel any sect of the Christian faith should claim exclusivity in speaking for Christians worldwide or assume there is only one viewpoint regarding faith in the Holy Land.  Personally I’m part of a global and growing evangelical tradition that believes the authority of Scripture and the faithfulness of God in keeping His covenants.  That includes His covenant with Abraham and the Jewish people.  My Christian faith is built on the foundation of Judaism and without it, Christianity would not exist.  Without the Judeo-Christian worldview, there would be no Western Civilization, and without Western Civilization, there would be no America.  The thought that God is even capable of breaking a covenant is anathema to those of us who embrace Holy Scripture as the authority of the church.  If God can or would break His covenant with the Jews, then what hope would Christians have that He would keep His covenant with us? Labels such as “Christian Zionism” are too often used in a pejorative manner to disparage free-church believers, of which there are millions across the planet.  Christians are followers of Christ and a Zionist simply accepts that the Jewish people have a right to live in their ancient, indigenous, and Biblical homeland.  It’s hard for me to understand why every one who takes on the moniker “Christian” would not also be a Zionist.  It’s not a commitment to a particular government or government policy, but to the Biblical revelation as given to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.  In my faith, there is certainly room for those who “butter their bread” differently than me, and I would hope that there would be room in the hearts of other church bodies for me.  We need to unite in those truths that should be agreed upon, such as the sanctity of life, the sacred act of marriage, the autonomy of the individual, the desire to lift up every human and alleviate human suffering, and the belief that grace is God’s gift to us all. Please share with others and "Pray for the peace of Jerusalem!"

Using soft LED lights led to an 84% drop in suicide attempts in Japan. Japan’s innovative use of calming blue LED lighting has achieved a staggering 84 percent reduction in train station suicide attempts. In an innovative approach to public safety, Japanese railway stations are demonstrating how simple environmental changes can have a profound impact on mental health. By installing high-intensity blue LED lights at the ends of train platforms—areas often chosen for suicide attempts due to their isolation—the East Japan Railway Company has seen a dramatic shift in behavior. Researchers from the University of Tokyo found that these calming lights, which evoke the tranquility of the sky and sea, contributed to a remarkable 84 percent decrease in suicide attempts over a ten-year period. This cost-effective intervention serves as a powerful reminder of how psychological triggers can be redirected through intentional design. The success of blue lighting is bolstered by findings linking mental health to light exposure, particularly during extended periods of overcast weather. Data suggests that railway suicides in Japan often spike following consecutive days of rain and cloud cover, highlighting a biological need for brightness that these installations help fulfill. While traditional safety measures like chest-high barriers and sliding doors are effective, they are also incredibly expensive and difficult to install in older stations. In contrast, the implementation of blue lighting offers a scalable, affordable alternative that addresses the root of the crisis by soothing the emotional state of individuals in distress before they act. source: Psychology Today.
