Panda's food cost on that plate is around $3. They sell it to you for ~$11. If you tried to make it at home you probably spent $15 on ingredients and an hour of your life to lose this race. Here's why the scale math is brutal. Panda buys boneless chicken thighs at wholesale: around $2/lb, sometimes less on contract. The same cut at your grocery store runs $3-5/lb. You're paying a 2x retail markup before you've turned on the stove. Then stack the ingredient tax. Orange chicken at home needs cornstarch, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, orange juice, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, and frying oil. Each bottle costs $3-8. You use a tablespoon of each and toss the rest a year later. Panda buys these inputs in drums and the per-plate seasoning cost rounds to zero. Labor is where the comparison breaks. A Panda cook plates 200-300 entrees per shift. Marginal labor is ~90 seconds at ~$18/hr, so about $0.50 of labor per tray. You spent 45 minutes on yours. At any honest hourly rate, the time cost more than the meal. Panda sells 115 million pounds of orange chicken a year. At that volume, they're functionally a food manufacturer with 2,400 retail outlets. The plate is the last step in a commodities pipeline. A chain running 90-second wok labor on commodity chicken beats your home kitchen every time. That's the whole business.

Pierde el seguro incialmente y cobra de la mutua de accidentes después. Pasárselo al cliente es, al menos, mala praxis. Infórmate bien.

A ver si con esto entienden cómo funciona el sistema en Uruguay y especialmente en Montevideo. Un cliente me alquila el vehículo, él pasa por el prado, se encuentra con un control de tránsito en una calle doble mano, el cliente se detiene del otro lado viene una moto, sin matrícula que en vez de parar , acelera , los inspectores tratan de detenerlo y termina estampado debajo de mi vehículo. El conductor de la moto no tiene libreta de conducir, la moto no tiene matrícula como ya dije, no tiene libreta de propiedad de la moto, mucho menos seguro, al parecer el cuadro que tenía la moto no coincidía con la marca de la moto. Mi cliente espera al seguro, declara , con todos los inspectores de testigos. Le lleva unas cuantas horas la declaración, esperar al seguro, policía, declara y tiene que declarar en comisaría también “por las dudas”. El tipo de la moto se retira caminando de la escena del siniestro (le retienen la moto). ¿Quién paga? Mi cliente que no tiene responsabilidad en el siniestro. Esto es Uruguay, Montevideo. Los que pagamos y tenemos todo en regla somos los perjudicados, los delincuentes son impunes.

Me ha pasado algo que me ha dejado un poco rayado con mi grupo de amigos… Solemos salir a cenar los 4 una vez al mes. Nada especial, plan tranquilo. El problema es que uno de ellos siempre se pide lo más caro de la carta, normalmente solomillo o algo así, mientras los demás vamos a cosas más normales porque no nos apetece cenar tan “pesado” ni gastar tanto. Al final siempre propone pagar a medias. Se lo comenté con tacto, sin mala intención, y su respuesta fue llamarme “cutre”. Lo que más me chocó no fue eso, sino que el resto no dijo nada, como si lo normal fuera que yo estuviera siendo el raro. Y ahora me quedo con la duda… ¿Estoy siendo yo el raro aquí? Cuando sales con amigos, ¿se suele dividir la cuenta o cada uno paga lo suyo
