Solana devs are shipping a big efficiency gain next month with zero breaking changes. P-token, coming to mainnet in April, is a drop-in replacement for the SPL token program. The leaner implementation unlocks 19x more efficient transfers, freeing up ~10% of block space. It also adds a new batch instruction. Each CPI call into the token program carries a fixed base cost: if a protocol needs to do five transfers, that’s five separate calls. this is by far the most impactful dev change on Solana for reads since genesis instead of calling getSignaturesForAddress + getTxn, call getTransactionsForAddress and instantly speed up your function by many multiples, while writing less code
