Brief Report: Critical Role for DNA-Based Sequencing in Discriminating Distinct Primary Lung Cancers with Different MET Exon 14 Skipping Mutations🧬 buff.ly/LknEyej This study evaluated NSCLC cases with MET exon 14 skipping (METex14) mutations using DNA-based sequencing to distinguish between recurrent disease and multiple independent primary tumors. Among 589 patients with METex14-mutant #NSCLC 🫁 112 had more than one tumor sample sequenced, and 8 patients were found to have two or more distinct primary lung cancers harboring different METex14 alterations. Both synchronous and metachronous tumors were identified, with comprehensive genomic profiling confirming their independent clonal origins. New findings from a first-of-its-kind phase 1 clinical trial were presented at the @AACR Annual Meeting by MSK thoracic oncologist Dr. Kathryn Arbour, highlighting early success in targeting the #KRAS-G12D mutation in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Among 18 trial participants with NSCLC treated with the drug zoldonrasib, 61% of patients had their tumors shrink substantially.
