@FiredUpCoug Been to dozens of cities. Japa ese greatly favor Chinese and you'll find edited and unedited Chinese. You'll find plenty of (less spicy) Korean and some great Thai, but those fall off in frequency. A Chinese place near our last hotel in Yokohama proved really useful.

My Japanese friends, I have a question for you. After your own cuisine, which Asian cuisine is most popular in japan? Thai, Chinese, Korean, or something else?

Explanation of "Mirroring Hiroshi": In Japan, women's arguments tend to gain more support. To verify the "validity of the argument" while removing gender bias, Hiroshi is made to make statements from the perspectives of both men and women. If the statement contains sexism, Hiroshi appears to be acting strangely.

Since it's been a month of Sundays since I've posted EDC for the boys, I'll put this on main as well. Moving clockwise from the upper-left: Pepper spray (Fox Labs Five-point-Three.) Jericho 941 (Israeli police trade-in purchased surplus in 9mm. Holster: kydex (no name brand, I made this one myself.) Emergency medical kit I keep in my back-left pocket for treating serious wounds, including gunshot wounds. Wallet, microfiber cloth for my glasses. Knives; Gerber Applegate-Fairbairin Combat Folder, CKRT M21-10KSF, Stanley folding utility knife. 6 foot long Stanley pocket tape measure. Keys, guarded by mini utility knife, plastic M1911 and Alice Margatroid. Samsung Galaxy S-20 phone. Blackhawk belt magazine pouch with two Mec-Gar magazines, each with 17 rounds of 147 grain 9mm FMJ (full metal jacket.) Streamlight Protac 1L-1AA flashlight (can take normal or lithium battery.) Gun belt not pictured; 5-11 brand ("tactical series" nylon weave belt with kydex stiffening insert.) I'll probably upgrade to a full-sized CKRT M21 so I've got something suited for utility and "dynamic social encounters" both.

@rerankar0 @harukaawake You're likely looking for "hiku" In their media you'll see this used most, even as a sound effect when someone pulls away (literally or mentally) in disgust/revulsion. From 引く, pull

@harukaawake i'd like to know the jp version of the word "cringe" when you people come up with that 🤔 it's "ko/ku-ri-n-ji", will get shorter to "ko/ku-ri-ji" at that point you'll find a jp pun to use there and it'll become something cool, not ranting of a non-native both to eng and jp 😅

🇯🇵 I recently learnt the word "cringe" in English. When I think of this word, I think of our political party Reiwa Shinsengumi. They argue for more Islamic immigration, trans rights and everything else you'd expect. They currently have 1 seat in the government.

I despise this talking point bc vaccine-related myocarditis is primarily among young men and disease-related myocarditis is primarily among older adults The OBVIOUS solution is to not give the vaccine to young men but make it available to people outside the myocarditis risk window
Neil Stone@DrNeilStone

It would be shocking but it's a lie The reality; Myocarditis after Covid vaccine 5 per million Myocarditis after Covid infection 150 per million

I just read all 800+ comments in this thread regarding manners in Japan. Many were common expectations, such as not littering, or talking on the phone while on a train. However, many were new to me. Here's a summary: DON'T - Waste food: finishing shows respect - Eat or drink while walking - Take photos in buses, trains, shops, or shrines - Buy items in bulk - Pass food from chopsticks to chopsticks (this closely resembles a funeral ritual) DO - Learn a few basic Japanese phrases - Slurp your noodles (it's polite!) - Walk single file in tighter spaces - Use a translation app - Carry a small trash bag, public trash cans are rare - Use both hands when giving or receiving items Thank you all for sharing your comments, they were fascinating!

my position: BPC-157 has stronger preclinical data on stroke recovery than any compound currently available. 544 studies. zero toxicity. and nobody in neurology is talking about it. change my mind.

They clamped both carotid arteries in a rat’s neck shut. For 20 minutes. Zero blood to the brain. Brain damage. Hippocampal lesions. Memory wiped. Motor coordination destroyed. The untreated rats never recovered. The brain never even tried to repair itself. The only thing that reversed the damage — was BPC-157. Memory fully restored. Coordination fully restored. Hippocampal neurons recovered at both 24 AND 72 hours. Not compensated. Not retrained. Reversed. (PMID: 32558293) Stroke is the #1 cause of long-term disability in the US. 700,000 Americans every year. Most survivors never return to baseline. Ever. You survived. Everyone told you that’s what matters. But surviving a stroke and recovering from one are two completely different things. You relearned how to button your shirt at 58. You do speech therapy 3 times a week. You write lists for things you used to remember without thinking. You tell people you’re doing great because you’re tired of the look on their faces when you say you’re not. You stopped expecting to get better. You just adapted. And everyone around you called that recovery. Your neurologist prescribed rehab. Your PT retrains your muscles. Your speech therapist retrains your words. Every single one of them is teaching your brain to work around damage that nobody tried to repair. Your aspirin prevents the next clot. Your statin manages cholesterol. Your blood pressure medication adjusts the number. They’re protecting you from the NEXT stroke while nobody repairs the damage from the FIRST one. Researchers cut blood flow to a rat’s brain completely. 20 minutes. The exact model for human stroke. BPC-157 reversed both early and delayed brain damage and achieved full functional recovery. A rat had zero blood to its brain for 20 minutes and BPC-157 brought its memory back. Your post-stroke fog is a simpler ask. → Blood to brain cut off completely: reversed → Brain damage: repaired at 24h AND 72h → Memory: fully restored → Motor coordination: fully restored → Side effects: zero Your rehab retrains the brain around what’s broken. Your medication prevents the next event. Neither repairs the damage from the one that already happened. That brain damage isn’t permanent. It’s unrepaired. Your rehab adapts to the damage. BPC-157 reversed it. Not FDA-approved. Preclinical evidence. Not medical advice.

Yeah, a lot of people have forgotten the insane private-industry censorship of the Covid era, like how YouTube banned American scientists from talking about how much they wished we were like Europe
arctotherium@arctotherium42

I forgot just how insane the NYP Hunter Biden laptop story censorship was; it wasn't just suppressed you couldn't even send DMs about it on Facebook and the New York Post itself was banned from Twitter for posting a link to their own, true story.

Last year, Justice Jackson dissented in the U.S. v. Skremetti case-- in which she argued that states have no right to ban gender transitions on minors. Today, she was the lone dissent on Chiles v. Salazar, writing that "there is no right to practice medicine which is not subordinate to the power of states." So, states have no right to pass laws banning children from changing their sex-- but states DO have the right to ban counselors from telling boys they are not girls. You truly can't make it up.

Moral of the story? Get married. Stay married. Have kids. Raise them together. You’ll be happier. Your life will have more meaning. And your kids will have what they deserve a mom and a dad. The data says so. Even when the headlines won’t.

This is the study's own table. They chose to examine: parents vs. nonparents. Parents are happier. Less sad. Less guilty. More optimistic. More meaning in life. More satisfied with life. Parents win on 11 of 12 measures. It's right there. They published it.
