Crews continue working in the hardest-hit areas where damage requires more complex and time-intensive repairs. More than 3,000 ComEd employees and 2,200 contractors are in the field, supported by an additional 400 mutual assistance personnel, all working to restore service as safely and efficiently as possible.
Here’s the latest updates:
⚡As of now, power has been restored to approximately 623,779 customers—about 90% of those impacted by Wednesday and Thursday’s storms.
⚡Customer Care Vans are being deployed in Streator, Hickory Hills and Chicago's South Side, including the Stony Island and Gresham neighborhoods to provide on-site support and resources for customers.
⚡Forecasts for northern Illinois indicate a chance of isolated storms late Saturday into early Sunday, and we are actively monitoring conditions and preparing for potential impacts.

Our restoration efforts continue with our crews working around the clock to restore power after multiple rounds of severe storms brought heavy rain, frequent lightning, and damaging high winds, including at least two confirmed tornadoes in the Streator and Dwight areas. Since Wednesday's and Thursday's storms, our crews have restored power to more than 605,400 customers — that's 89% of those impacted Wednesday and 84% from Thursday's storm.

This has not been a typical late spring storm, and the impact across our communities has been significant. The hardest-hit areas include Crestwood to Chicago and Joliet to Alsip, where downed power lines and fallen trees caused widespread damage. We truly understand how disruptive and stressful this is for you and your families, and we appreciate your patience as we continue working. We are still with you.
Despite severe weather passing through again this evening, we are continuing restoration efforts.
Here’s the latest:
⚡ Approximately 384,000 customers restored as of 6 p.m. Thursday
⚡ More than 2,900 personnel working across northern Illinois
⚡ Severe weather including strong winds, lightning and hail ending tonight
We are prioritizing repairs that restore the greatest number of customers first, along with critical services like hospitals, police and fire departments, before moving into smaller affected areas.
For customers still without power from Wednesday’s storms, restoration is expected by Saturday evening, if not sooner, as long as conditions remain safe for our crews. As additional storms move through, we will assess any new damage and begin restoring those newly impacted as quickly and safely as possible.
