Today, the UK closes its last coal-fired power plant, becoming the fifth European nation to go #BeyondCoal.
At the time of the London 2012 Olympics, coal generated 40% of the UK’s power. Tonight, it drops to zero, while #wind produces enough electricity to power 92% of UK homes.

Gove has issued another direction stopping LLDC from carrying out Khan's rejection for 42 days while he decides if he wants to call in the app.

Good. #MSGSphere would've completely overwhelmed Stratford station (already one of the most crowded in London) and endangered road users in the local area by flashing adverts down to the street. Let's hope it's dead & buried and get on with finding a meaningful use for this land.

Sadiq Khan has blocked plans for the MSG Sphere in Stratford. Mayor spokesman: 'London is open to investment from around the world...but the Mayor has seen independent evidence that shows the current proposals would result in an unacceptable negative impact on local residents.'

Revealed: Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, has decided to block an application from Madison Square Garden to build a London version of the Las Vegas Sphere at the Olympic Park in Stratford on the grounds of excessive light pollution. A formal statement is expected later today.

✅ 45% fewer of the dirtiest vehicles now on London's roads
✅ 19 out of 20 vehicles don't need to pay ULEZ charge
