Danish election is tomorrow. One of the contested topics is "inequality" — that's what the wealth tax is about — but that premise is entirely wrong. Denmark desperately needs MORE inequality! It needs wealth to accumulate! So it can be invested into next-gen companies.

Efficiency

I hear zero mentions about:
Quality

Kubernetes migration almost killed our startup. Where we were: - 8 EC2 instances - Ansible for deploys - Boring but working - $1200/month AWS bill Why we migrated: - New investor wanted 'cloud-native' - Engineers wanted K8s experience - Competitors were using it - Seemed like the future 6 months later: - 3 engineers spending full-time on K8s - AWS bill at $4500/month - Deploys took longer than before - More outages, not fewer - Product development stalled We rolled back: - Moved to ECS Fargate - 2 week migration - Back to $1800/month - Engineers back on features K8s is amazing for scale. We weren't at scale. Technology should solve problems you actually have.

@bunq @GergelyOrosz Thanks, good to know! I had a pretty poor experience because at some point all my transfers got delayed. Even smaller amounts between my own bunq accounts. There is also something to be said about the transparency of Monzo’s approach.

Most banks keep sending out warning emails about impersonation and scams.
Any app can implement this capability with a little coding + backend work (assuming their BE sensible enough): and yet Monzo is the first one I’ve heard do it.

Very clever UX from @monzo. If you take any phone call and open their app, they add an orange warning gradient to help warn you of scams.

This absurd "one-liner" will show you the name of the command running on each port on MacOS, which is something I need to do constantly so leaving it here:

What are companies that hire software engineers as full-remote?
From the top of my head: Airbnb, Shopify, Spotify, DuckDuckGo, GitLab, Sourcegraph, Linear, Oxide, Remote .com.
But there are surely a lot more. Know of up-to-date lists for this?

@GergelyOrosz Had exactly the same need. We ended up getting a homepod mini. I didn’t have Spotify to begin with so it was an option. Also, having a portable player was not a concern.
It has some drawbacks, but it works quite well

This is the best option I’ve ever also come across, called “The Mighty” with a focus for kids.
I find it annoying it has no UI to read artist / song name. Surprising how few options exist for “let me buy a device for a kid to listen to music - and nothing else.”

As a parent, I want to delay my kids having smartphones as long as possible. But kids love listening to music.
It’s kind of disappointing that there is no “Walkman / Discman / iPod for the modern age” (aka connected to Spotify / Apple Music).” As a standalone device.

We don’t do backlogs. I don’t recommend you do either.
You know the important stuff to work on. If you forget, it probably wasn’t worth remembering.
