I am teaching a series of lessons about animal diets to a year 1 class. What is the best activity I can do in their books and how to keep them interested and engaged? Help please :) @MrTs_NQTs#edutwitter@Team_English1@primary
So pleased to share that I’ve been put in a Year 1 class for my first year as an ECT!! Hoping to link with/follow others in similar settings! 🖍️ @MrTs_NQTs any recommendations for what I can do to prepare? Also trying to think of transition day activity ideas!! 🤗🤗
Recently found out I’m going to be Year 1 for my first year of teaching. I’d love to connect with fellow Year 1 teachers for some advice and to support each other 📚👩🏼🏫 please retweet and let’s connect!

@Fifitrainee@MrTs_NQTs@BAPrimaryUSW@EY_ECT Don’t over plan, they’ll take longer to do something then you realise, spend the time getting to know them and making them feel a part of the class, be consistent, have routines, establish boundaries and keep it fun! They’re still so little 🥰
@Fifitrainee@MrTs_NQTs@Team_English1@primary I was going to say journey by Aaron Becker too. My class loved it too. No barrier to learning as it’s wordless. We used pictures as stimulus for a variety of lessons, writing nouns and verbs they can see, sentences including expanded noun phrases and an adverb and speech bubbles
Finally I have been shortlisted for an amazing school!! 🥳 Could you please recommend a book and writing activity that I could use for my 30 minutes lesson observation in a yr2 class! :) @MrTs_NQTs#edutwitter@Team_English1@primary
@Fifitrainee@MrTs_NQTs@Team_English1@primary Journey - a wordless book with amazing illustrations. Inference based lesson or prediction using the illustrations as clues? My Y2s loved it and all able to access.
@Fifitrainee@Team_English1@primary Congratulations!
Start with a book you know well. Then find a Y2 NC objective to deliver through it. You can then plan your teaching from there. If you need book inspiration @MrEPrimary has a brilliant list for year 2.
First day back tomorrow after almost a year off for Maternity leave 🥺👶🏼 Although excited I’m incredibly nervous so please send all your positive thoughts my way 😅🫶🏻
@RachieD22@MrTs_NQTs I totally agreee with this!! I am soo glad that it has worked out lovely for you! With the supply work, were you able to get work everyday?
I’m thinking of taking a year off after getting my QTS this summer because uni has officially drained me! I’m hoping to do some supply work in primary schools, but need some advice on this!! @MrTs_NQTs#edutwitter#primaryteacher#help
@Fifitrainee@MrTs_NQTs Good idea! I’ve been a supply teacher for 25 years and now I am writing a handbook for supplies. You can DM me anytime with questions.
