@2_Many_Opinions @mattyglesias Look it sucks we lost him (love deni) but he’s never going to be a franchise player. He isn’t now and won’t be. Bradley Beal averaged 30 a game back to back years (first dude since Kobe) and we did why Portland is gonna do. Get bounced early. Not a franchise player.

@Fontenez3 @mattyglesias Repeating bad talking points doesn't make it right. He was the person we could have rebuilt around. He is playing like a franchise player and he hasn't peaked yet. He is 35 and is on the best contract in the NBA. If a FO can't build around a franchise player the FO needs to go

@WizardsNextUp Mutually exclusive. We have AD and still could. With that being said so secondary to broader plan. Dawkins and Winger hit on second rounders. They can again this year.
English

@Fontenez3 I don’t disagree I love AD acquisition and we made the right move, but i’d also like us to use some of our second round draft capital to move back into this class it’s so deep!
English

That Thunder pick we sent to the Mavs is hurting more everyday, we need to find a way to move back into late first round with some second round draft capital

@WizardsNextUp Sorry the risks of another pick being anywhere near his level. Even when he plays. Like it’s AD lol
English

@WizardsNextUp Believe me I get the risks with AD but they far outweigh another draft pick. We want to try and win games next year. It’s exciting. We will have more picks.
English

@les_boulez So much to say but not worth it. I’ve watched every single wizards game going back 6 years and almost every single one since 2013 or so. When was the last time we got a free agent and who are we due to pay the next 2 years? No one. Carry on. Keep watching Krivas lmao
English

@Fontenez3 Do you even follow basketball? Every team has 2-3 spots for a max-type player. You waste a slot on someone injury prone — way past his prime. There’s a reason Dawkins got him for. thing because that’s his value in the market. Dallas got rid of him. So whose dumb?
English

@les_boulez If I’m wrong about Krivas being relevant than so be it lmao. I’ll be able to live with it. The fact you’re bringing him up with regards to an Anthony Davis trade is so laughable I can’t believe it.
English

@Fontenez3 I mean you think Krivas going late 2nd round. Just bookmark your comment and teach about baseball when it's done.

@mattyglesias This new front office knew it was gonna take 3-4 years to get to a moment where the floor has been laid. And we are there next year after being in absolute hell in 2022-23. Masterclass stuff. Own all their own picks still too. Not title stuff but a future to believe in.
English

@mattyglesias I watch the games and just so vehemently disagree with the analysis here. Sarr and Keyshawn George look really good. Johnson might be right there with him. The team is set up to lose this year with little to no frontcourt strength/depth or a PG which Davis and Young bring

@MasriNBA You’re all over it. Wonderful rant. It’s almost as if it’s been intentional on the team build to not worry about these holes until now.
English

Bear with me, I’m about to rant for a bit.
The Wizards give up the most second chance points in the league, which directly coincides with their league worst defensive rebounding percentage.
The Wizards have great individual on ball and help defenders, but that does not show up in the team’s defensive rating.
The Wizards have the best young shot blocker in the league outside of Wemby, yet they also allow over 20 points per game off turnovers.
The point I’m trying to make is this: the numbers say we’re far from a top 15 defense, but I’d argue the opposite. What’s holding this team back are metrics that directly tie to mental and physical maturity. This team is skinny as hell, so of course they’re getting bodied on the glass. This team hasn’t had a proper ball handler yet, so of course they’re turning the ball over.
Next year and the year after that the team will get stronger and smarter.
Do AD and Trae solve these problems? Even fully healthy, probably not completely. The young guys are close and are the ones who need to step up next year not just AD and Trae.
They have to clean up the loose ends
