Constructive meeting with Algerian ambassador to the United States Sabri Boukadoum and his team, joined by our Chargé d’Affaires in Algeria, Mark Schapiro. We discussed @DeputySecState and AFRICOM Commander General Anderson’s successful trip to Algiers and the growing U.S.-Algerian economic relationship, which includes more than 120 American companies operating in Algeria. We reviewed opportunities to expand investment in the energy and other sectors. We also discussed the importance of strengthening the U.S.-Algerian security relationship and expanding regional cooperation.  I reiterated the United States’ appreciation for Algeria’s vital and ongoing diplomatic efforts to advance peace and security in the region, including its constructive engagement toward achieving a mutually agreeable solution to the Western Sahara dispute, as reflected in UNSCR 2797. It is time to reach a resolution.
