The coup regime sets a date for the upcoming election for part 1 in the war-torn Myanmar 18 August 2025 Myanmar's junta regime has announced a controversial plan to hold an election for Part 1, slated for December 28, 2025, despite the dire and ongoing conflict ravaging the country. This move is unprecedented; citizens have never witnessed Part 1 and Part 2 elections conducted in a genuinely democratic fashion. Furthermore, last month, the junta imposed military martial law in specific regions throughout the nation, with a particular focus on areas dominated by ethnic armed groups and resistance forces opposed to the regime. Now, the junta has unleashed a brutal bombing campaign from Kayah state to Kachin state, aiming to forcibly "liberate" these territories from the grip of opposition groups. The regime's strategy appears to be designed to facilitate a heavily biased electoral process, undermining genuine democratic values and the legitimate voices of the populace.

#Myanmar SAC military junta at work: blocking, and confiscating aid. Outrageous & unacceptable! A member of a rescue team in Sagaing said they faced restrictions and blockades. “When we try to transport supplies from Mandalay, the military council doesn’t permit it. Even yesterday, when food supplies were being transported from Mandalay, they confiscated half of everything,” they said. The military inspects the rescue teams, they said, suspicious of weapons being brought into the areas under the guise of aid supplies. “They scrutinise even the helping teams thoroughly, prioritising only their [own] security. They don’t prioritise rescuing civilians. They also investigate food distribution teams, asking where they’re from and checking everything. If supplies are transported across the river from other cities, food supplies are confiscated and don’t reach their destination adequately,” the rescue worker said. #MyanmarEarthquake #WhatsHappeningInMyanmar theguardian.com/world/2025/apr…

People sleeping out in the open in #Mandalay, curfews at night, bombings by the #Myanmar junta airforce, & SAC spokesperson admitting junta soldiers shot up a relief convoy, junta blocking aid from reaching #Sagaing. Shameful, outrageous & unacceptable failures by despot Min Aung Hlaing (being received in #Thailand by pseudo PM @ingshin) as the Burmese people suffer. Great reporting by @RadioFreeAsia. #MyanmarEarthquake #WhatsHappeninginMyanmar rfa.org/english/myanma…

Sagaing, the epicentre of the earthquake. Destruction is much greater here than Mandalay… local firefighter told us as much as 80% of the city has been damaged.

Just when it appeared that the junta was heeding calls to stop military attacks and allow aid to get to those in desperate need, there are reports that these attacks have resumed in Myanmar. I urge the convening of the UN Security Council to address this deepening crisis.

After heavy losses, SAC realizes armed conflict won’t resolve Myanmar’s crisis—they should never have staged the coup at the first place. Now, feeling defeated, they call for a ceasefire. Personally welcome, but how sincere are they? Let’s wait and see. #MyanmarCrisis #Ceasefire

Even before last Friday’s devastating earthquake, Myanmar’s hospitals were under siege. Determined to persecute medical professionals opposed to its rule, the military regime has forcibly closed dozens of healthcare facilities that employed doctors and nurses who refused to be part of its administration. Rescue or Rubble: Junta Forces Prioritize Temple Cleanup Over Trapped Civilians As countless civilians remain trapped and bodies to be retrieved under collapsed buildings in Mandalay, Sagaing, Naypyitaw, Shan State, and elsewhere, where are the forces of the regime? Instead of rushing to save lives, soldiers and police are busy clearing debris from a few religious buildings and Mandalay Palace Moat. #Myanmar #Naypyitaw #Mandalay #Sagaing #junta #military #soldier #police #temple #rescue #rubble #buildings #moat #whatshappeningnowinmyanmar #MyanmarEarthquake

The focus in Myanmar must be on saving lives not taking them. Junta military attacks must stop. Obstructions to aid must be lifted. Young people should not be fearing arrest or conscription. The international community must step up with greater levels of emergency aid. Now.
