Hi my name is Guido Reichstadter & I'm currently occupying the top of the Frederick Douglass memorial bridge in Washington DC. I'm calling on the people of the United States to bring an immediate end to the Trump regime's illegal war on Iran and the removal of the regime power through mass nonviolent direct action and non-cooperation. May 27, 2019. Just after liftoff, a Soyuz-2.1b rocket carrying a GLONASS-M satellite was struck by lightning shortly after launch from Plesetsk Cosmodrome. As it climbed through charged clouds, the rocket’s presence helped trigger a lightning discharge that ran along its path.
The flight continued normally. The systems were designed to handle events like this, and no disruption occurred. It’s a reminder that even routine launches pass through some of the most electrically active and unpredictable parts of Earth’s atmosphere.
