Have you ever noticed that some WWI & WWII Austrian and German soldiers had scars on their faces? They’re duelling🤺scars and were common among high ranking, upper class males. Fraternities would often engage in academic fencing. These facial scars became a badge of honour and developed the fraternal bond. Lots of these upper class students became officers during WWI. This duelling🤺ritual was eventually banned, however, Adolf Hitler lifted the ban when he came to power in 1933.
