Today, marks the International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy in Peace. As a member of the UN for 70 years, and the EU for over 50, Ireland remains committed to these twin pillars of multilateralism, and to the UN Charter and International Law which underpin them both.

Today, as we marked the first anniversary of the death of Pope Francis, Amb. Collins joined members of the diplomatic corps to 🇻🇦 for Mass at the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

We hosted the @churchofireland Youth Officers yesterday during their visit to Rome along with Ambassador @ChrisTrott & reps. of the Anglican, Methodist & Reformed Churches in Rome, the Pontifical Irish College&Holy See Dicastery for Christian Unity. A pleasure to exchange views!

Daniel O’Connell’s heart was sent to Rome in accordance with his last wishes. However, during the move to the current Irish College around 1927, the heart was lost. Or was it? Dr. Eileen King has a fascinating counter-theory on the whereabouts of O’ Connell’s heart. 🔗in reply

This evening, we joined members of the diplomatic corps to 🇻🇦 in the Prayer Vigil for Peace in the world led by Pope Leo XIV.

On the anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement we remember central role of faith leaders in peacebuilding&promoting dialogue across communities&across generations. In 2023 w/ @UKinHolySee we hosted the Group of Church Leaders,Ireland to mark the 25th anniversary of the Agreement

Delighted to welcome the Irish Association of Former Parliamentarians to the Residence, following their attendance at the General Audience with Pope Leo XIV. Ambassador Collins updated the group on the work of the Embassy and our shared foreign policy priorities with the Holy See
