That’s what we got right here in South Carolina. Big ol 300 pound linemen smashin each other, quarterbacks launchin bombs, and hits that rattle your teeth. That’s real sport. 80,000 fans at Williams-Brice on a Saturday, tailgatin all day… that’s what real passion looks like. Soccer’s the world’s most popular sport? Only ‘cause they ain’t tried real football yet. Keep your low scorin snooze fest. We’ll take our four quarters of pure American glory. Football ain’t just a game down here, it’s life. And I just can’t understand why soccer is the most popular sport in the world. 😉

Soccer is such a large culture in the US. In fact, it has one of the largest fan bases of soccer in the world. Almost as much as the entire population of the UK. It's just not our only identity. The UK, for example, has its entire identity tied up in soccer. But to assume that we don't understand the game, don't have a crazy fanbase, or take the game seriously....it's just pure delusion or unawareness. This isn't the 1980s anymore. The best part of this WC so far is seeing all the fans from all over the world having such a great time in the US and Mexico. Canada sucks so I feel bad for whatever teams have to play there. I think after this WC, a lot more club teams are going to want to do their preseasons here. More players will want to come play in the MLS too.
