@topomodesto @StreetsblogLA Not always the minimum (tho I agree that another foot or two would be even better). Too often LADOT has done even less, saying that the minimum is unfeasible. The minimum here would have been a sharrow or a Bike Route sign.

Looking for a glimpse of L.A.'s multimodal future? (assuming the climate doesn't toast us first) Forget that new 6th Street Bridge, and look to the nearby #DTLA 7th Street Streetscape - under construction la.streetsblog.org/2022/07/20/eye…

Maybe declare a climate emergency, and freeze the Metro highway widening budget at the current level.

In 2022, there are these climate and housing emergencies, so perhaps Metro board could - similar to 2020 - just freeze the highway expansion budget? Tell Metro Highway Program to work within the existing budget total approved last year, instead of continuing to increase funding

Back in 2020, when there was this pandemic emergency thing, Metro froze its budget. The board told departments to just stay within the dollar amounts that they had been approved for the year before.

This morning, Metro Board Planning Committee voted to adopt a "No Build" alternative for Metro/Caltrans 710 Freeway widening project. It's unprecedented for these agencies to do this - abandoning decades of work ($60+M worth) of designs/studies/engineering on widening. (a thread)

California’s Democratic Governor wants to give car owners 15 times what he wants to give transit riders. ($11.5B vs $750M) Gonna think about that next time someone says “transit isn’t good enough so I have to drive.”

Something kinda minor that pisses me (@JoeLinton) off. The Metro highway program says stuff like "we need to widen freeways because that's what Measure M/R voters approved" -- but then they turn around and use M/R funding for stuff that doesn't really match M/R. (a short thread)

Infill development in a parking requirement world. You can’t mandate this sort of thing and then be surprised when units are expensive.
