@KColby3 @2ndjensen I see what you’re saying. Agree to disagree because I think he gave a genuine effort but that doesn’t always translate to productivity. They needed more from him, and he needed much more from them

@Zach_Mason7 @2ndjensen His whole team looked frustrated and without a clue. Which is when you expect a player of his caliber to step up and give an example of attitude fight and class. To me, the Argentine team is reflected perfectly in what I saw in Messi. Quality players without any desire.

@KColby3 @2ndjensen A lot to unpack here lol but I’m not saying he’s absolved of any responsibility but he’s not why they lost. He gave a real effort, he was desperate to make plays (ex. him taking ball off of cb’s). If the team was given a clear structure which it is pretty evident they aren’t...

@Zach_Mason7 @2ndjensen Argentina has better players than Portugal. To say different is madness. 2 at Juve, 2 Man City, 2 ManU, 2 PSG, 1 Roma, 1 Chelsea, and 1 is one of the best of the generation at Barca. They have better players but are one of the worst TEAMS at the World Cup.

@2ndjensen Their 2nd best player got subbed off with 40 minutes to go and the game at 0-0, their 3rd best player played the last 20 only.. manager not helping Messi our. Also, Portugal won the Euro and are much better overall.

@Zach_Mason7 @2ndjensen I blame the team for the loss but what’s that Denzel quote? “You wanna be a star you better give me a stars effort.” Poor effort. Invisible the second half. And then poor sporting behavior after the final whistle to run off the field like a child.

@2ndjensen Don’t think effort is the right word. Wasn’t coming off for him but he was all over the place trying to make plays. Similar to Lebron in the finals, was alone.

@Zach_Mason7 @2ndjensen Messi had 2 set pieces he hit the wall on and a pk saved against Iceland alone. Don’t say better chances. There’s a reason Dybala says it’s hard to play with Messi. Ruins the teams shape making it impossible to have an identity when your #10 is taking the ball from center backs!

@2ndjensen I just think Portugal has a better identity and Ronaldo has had better chances (2 dead balls, 1 keeper howler). We don’t have to be binary and make it Messi vs Ronaldo.
