@charlotteahenry @RachelReevesMP Just a badly run school. Every other private school seems to be able to survive on £30,000+ fees per year, so the question is: why can’t this one? Total income: £14,545,689 Total spending: £14,861,630 Oh, look how much the staff are paid…

@charlotteahenry @RachelReevesMP “The school has suffered from dwindling pupil numbers in recent years and recorded a £2m loss in the year to August 2025, according to its latest accounts.” Thought you claim to be a journalist. Try doing some research.

Labour Peer, Lord Rooker, magnificantly angry in House of Lords today over EHRC Code of Practice publication delay. "It's an absolutely disgraceful way to operate!" @ForWomenScot 1/

I've written about what we've learned from Bridget Phillipson's statement today on the single-sex services guidance - and why it's taken so dreadfully long to travel such a short distance. comment.press/bridget-philli…

How does "improve parking" - means more free parking - sit alongside "safer streets", @newham_labour ? Find a clear place to cross - youtube.com/watch?v=xR7_Bz… . Not possible when the whole road is full of parked cars. Maybe history will be made when Labour lose this council.

More worryingly, they may have represented it as "tone" but ministers may have been lobbying the EHRC for something substantively different, that Phillipson instructed her lawyers to argue for in High Court: that female-only services should be able to admit men who identify as female without losing their single-sex status.

The draft Code was leaked, so we know it was appropriately factual. This suggestion that govt was demanding it be more "inclusive" worrying. EHRC is independent of govt and it would be totally inappropriate for ministers to be lobbying it on something as ephemeral as "tone".

Excl: Bridget Phillipson told Britain’s equality regulator that it must “tone down” its guidance over single-sex spaces and make it more inclusive before she presents it to parliament. Phillipson said today she would publish the EHRC code of conduct next month after the local elections, and the EHRC confirmed it had "made adjustments where they help the code provide legally accurate, practical guidance that is useful to duty bearers". A source with knowledge of the process said much of the discussion had been over the “tone” of the document, with a feeling it had been approached with the aim of excluding transgender people rather than finding inclusive ways of operating while also upholding the law. Sources close to Phillipson said they "completely dispute" that she asked the regulator to "tone down" the guidance. They said the request was that the EHRC ensured there was clarity for all kinds of services and that the code was accessible and robust. The Times understands that the changes that have been made to the resubmitted code are minimal and that while the guidance itself will not change, the regulator had been asked to include more examples of how organisations can be inclusive within the law. thetimes.com/uk/politics/ar…

@boswelltoday @jenn26265 @soniasodha Think they've only seen the old version, from Sept, if I read the article correctly: "The Times understands that the changes that have been made to the resubmitted code are minimal." the suggestions are that it only provides more examples, rather than change to the text...

Update: Bridget Phillipson has now made a nothingburger written statement. Claims to be "getting it right, showing leadership." Thanks but we, the voters, will be the judge of that one.

Snail's pace. Why on earth did it take ministers months and months to deliver "a narrow set of comments". The only plausible explanation is they *wanted* to delay the EHRC Code of Practice being laid before Parliament.
