I often watch a talk one gives, and wonder, "does anyone else see what I do?" As someone who has had to prepare lectures in academic settings, or make presentations in corporate settings, the hubris that so many of them show is just so jarring.

Spoke at a youth conference where they did a game giving a quote and 5 dudes had to guess whether it was from the book of Lamentations or a Taylor Swift song. It was fantastic.

What's a phrase in education that grates on you? One of mine is referring to 'your why'. It just sounds so infantile.

@theDRAMAgoat1 I also see it as yet another way to silence the real concerns and problems teachers are facing. It avoids talking about real stuff while inducing guilt in the teacher for wanted something better for their students.

Okay but "remembering your why" is what makes teaching so painful. We remember why. And it's no longer reality. It hurts.
