Kind of surprised these drills never took off. Especially with the double disc opener option (not pictured). Lots of volatile ground here powders up with single disc gauge wheels pulverizing clods in a min till system.

@dvanklomp 2. Rows with less ears have less uniformity indicating a longer emergency window to the point of no emergency. Figure out what is hampering your emergency and your yields will increase a fair amount. My 2¢

@dvanklomp You should take that a step further and flag your emergency. Once you see how emergence affects yield, you can concentrate on what affect emergence on your planter.

Happy new year #agtwitter. I challenge myself every year to learn something new. I did a planter row yield variability test this fall. Counted them all by hand. It was a lot of work but it’s actionable info to make ourselves better in ‘26. Here’s the results:

@dvanklomp 1. Based on my emergence plots, what I see in yours...the rows with higher ear counts tend to have larger and more uniform ears. That indicates to me a more uniform emergence.
