@ThatcherH Any & all late work through the end of the grading period. It took me a long time to adjust, but as someone else said, it’s about students learning & demonstrating mastery. Penalizing for late work is dealing in soft skills, which are important, but not reflective of mastery.

There’s some dissent in our department and our school over the late work policy. Those of you who teach high school, could you share your late work policy and the pros/cons? #teachertwitter #WeNeedHelp

@tjhershberger I heard what’s going on. So frustrating! I’m sorry you guys are dealing with this. I hope it ends soon.

@tsuejohnson @alicekeeler My sts read both @ the same time to enrich their conversations. I love it & so do they. We read through the lens “what makes a hero” & they decide whether or not Atticus is one & argue why. The arguments are powerful on both sides, even sts who don’t agree, see both sides.

@alicekeeler I like Just Mercy as a replacement. Lots of great connections to modern civics, it's a true story, and it covers similar injustices.

Kind opinions please. Discussing with an English teacher about To Kill a Mockingbird. I saw some pushback and some recommendations for other texts. What advice/resources might I point her to?

This school year, there’s a valuable opportunity to rethink—and ultimately retire—obsolete reading practices. 📚 edutopia.org/article/4-read…

So much fun creating cave art today! Newcomers in Digital Storytelling for ELD used charcoal to draw the outlines of their symbols and then made ocher from rocks to add color. All resources from Mother Nature—just like the Neanderthals! @TUSD_OLA @M_HerreraOlmedo

Should grammar matter as much when we speak as it does when we write? Here are two different takes on the matter: t.ted.com/iIg3Nv9
