Here @kpimh we have noticed some pitchers that have high vertical break fastballs can struggle throwing quality changeups. Does that mean they can’t throw CH’s? Absolutely not. An example of this is current KPI intern @Hopkins22D and his CH:

Big.E(2023, 6'7", USA Baseball) 2 months since back in the bullpen. KPI workouts are fueling him. New PR 87.1mph. Coach threw out 88.1 as an outlier. An extra 30lbs would do wonders but varsity basketball keeps him burning lean for now. @kpistrength @KpiPitching @shsathletics

Today’s #kpicrew team highlight is on Live Oak HS! The Acorns have come out blazing, going 4-0! Their hitters that train at KPI are punishing the baseball with 11 of their 18 hits going for extra bases and a combined OPS of .1000 👀

Last week I had a convo w/ a high school coach about what he’s seeing from one of our hitters @ practice, so we could both be on the same page. This is how it it should be. The kid went out and hit well this week. No drama. No ego. Mutual interest in what’s best for the player

Special moment on Wednesday as Cole Wilson hit his first ever HR in the first game of the year. Cole has averaged over 4 workouts per week since the Fall and has gained 25lbs of muscle and improved his bat speed and swing efficiency. This is what it’s all about with the #kpicrew

Soph RHP @stumpage123 had a personal record 93mph FB in his first start of the high school season. The University of Oregon commit has gained 6mph and 30lbs the past year and has had a full time throwing, training, and nutrition program since he was 13! #kpicrew

What we work on here at KPI is finding out which pitch would be most effective for YOU, and then setting goals to achieve that movement profile.

With the use of slow motion cameras (video 3), we are able to gather information about what the hand is actually doing to impart spin on the ball. This gives us feedback for external queuing and that “feel” vs “real” aspect of pitching.

“Slurve” vs “12-6” using Rapsodo. Pitch 1 would be considered the “Slurve” having equal horizontal (side-side) and vertical (up/down) movement. Where as Pitch 2 has more vertical movement than horizontal movement.
