Gadaffi Mugumya, just like many other private bodyguards of Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine president of National Unity Platform President, will remain in different prisons a across the country. Mugumya was abducted in January after being held incommunicado for weeks, before he reappeared in the dock at Masaka Chief Magistrates Court on 13th March 2025. As he gazed at the Chief Magistrate, six counts were read to him including; robbery, assault, destruction of property and malicious damage to property among others. One year later, he’s remains languishing in prison and last appeared before court 6months ago! #gadaffimugumya

Y’all remember how the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, @norbertmao , issued a statutory instrument placing IPOD under the National Consultative Forum,making it mandatory for political parties to subscribe to IPOD by law. This statutory instrument was targeting the NUP, with the sole purpose of restricting its access to public financing for elections, an objective that was, to a large extent, achieved. To their shock, NUP went on to run a massive nationwide campaign, reaching nearly every part of the country. This raised questions about how such mobilization was possible without close to 3 billion shillings they’re denied. It later emerged that significant support came from Ugandans in the diaspora, who contributed to sustaining NUP’s political activities. This is part of what is now informing the introduction of the “Protection of Sovereignty Bill,” in which Ugandans living and working abroad are, controversially, framed as foreigners. It’s troubling how laws that are broadly applied to citizens are sometimes introduced with the underlying aim of targeting a specific group. Uganda 🙌

#C4News last night reported on the wholesale targeting of ambulances & paramedics in Lebanon by Israel, including the recent 'triple hit', when Israel attacked an ambulance, then attacked paramedics who went to help, and then attacked further paramedics also trying to help.

One lawyer I met at court during the habeas corpus hearing said abduction is acceptable. I asked if he had ever been arrested or abducted, he said no. Then why wish it on others, this is intentional ignorance and a disregard for rights. Impunity has been normalized in Uganda.

After @CentenaryBank calling me yesterday to resolve my issue, they sent me a message saying I should contact FIA “to get information regarding the directive on account restriction”. It seems even the bank wasn’t given the reason for that account restriction they were hustling ordered to freeze. Even the issue of who had the responsibility to inform me wasn’t resolved. They owe no duty whatsoever to the customer!

Uganda in 2026! You abduct someone's wife, someone's wife. You hold her incommunicado for over a month. You even swear an affidavit and lie on oath that the person isn't in your custody. After over a month, you dump the person at a police station and slap her with the most ridiculous charges! Most unfortunate. We're only glad that maama Kyeyune, Sherif's wife, is alive - having been abducted on 12th March and hidden away from everyone until today. There will be accountability for these crimes against humanity! #FreeUgandaNow

It is strange that Government often shows more enthusiasm on bills and amendments that people seem to be uncomfortable with. Those are the ones they pass fastest! Other critical bills often take their time. Is it sadism or a crude desire to show Power!

On 10th February, Baliza William was abducted from Kawempe. They first abducted his father and forced him to take them to his son. Todate, his whereabouts remain unknown. On 12th March, Natabi Fauzia, wife to comrade Najja Sherif, was abducted from their home in Kasangati. Her whereabouts remain unknown despite the court issuing a Habeas Corpus order. On 9th April, Nazziwa Agatha, aka Blue Tick, was abducted from Mutungo as she went to attend the vigil for comrade Waiswa's late wife Edith. Her whereabouts remain unknown. The regime is doing everything to normalise this situation, to a point that it no longer causes alarm that people are taken away and held incommunicado for days, weeks, months, or years. We must refuse to allow the normalisation of this criminality. Our legal team is doing its best to follow up on all these cases. #FreeUgandaNow

She has been dropped to Kanyanya Police and taken to court without communicating to any one and has been remanded to Luzira

JUST IN: The wife of President @HEBobiwine’s personal assistant, @DonSheriffN, has been dropped at Kanyanya Police Station after spending more than a month in incommunicado detention. She was arraigned in court without being allowed to communicate with anyone and has been remanded to Luzira Prison.

We should not normalize holding people beyond 48 hrs without charging them. It is perilous for all regardless political leaning.
