A 19 and 56 year old drove to this man’s farm, shot his dog (and almost his grandchildren), set hay on fire and sped off. He pursued them and they rammed his car. They were later arrested. But South Africa’s government and media will tell you white farmers aren’t being targeted and this is “normal crime”.

Public Works Minister Dean Macpherson has expressed shock after discovering that a derelict police station in Carletonville, on the West Rand has been overrun and converted into an illegal mining-controlled dwelling. Macpherson visited the vandalized building which is now also being used as a refuge for drug users. The former police station, comprising holding cells, a mortuary and staff housing has been seized by syndicates and stripped to its shell. Only bricks remain to show that this was once structure. Some of the occupants claim that government officials are acting as landlords, allegedly renting out parts of the old police station for R500. This man was shot dead yesterday after he was found in another man's house busy with the man's wife. Apparently he was a friend to the man that shot him, but whenever his friend went to work, this one would be seen by neighbours driving into his friends yard in broad daylight.
