I’m actually pretty pissed at how badly they’ve bungled America 250. First they tried to invite Milli Vanilli and a bunch of other absurdly washed up geriatric one hit wonders. Then when that didn’t work they decided to convert the event into a Trump rally where Trump will talk about himself for 90 minutes. This should have been a massive, raucous celebration of the country and its 250 year history. Now it will be a political rally identical to the ten million other ones we’ve already seen.

A Trump rally will be Trump just talking about himself for 90 minutes. Having that as the main act for our 250th would be ridiculous and sad.

You really can’t imagine a better way to celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday than listening to Trump give a speech for the 10,000th time? Not sure I believe you. At any rate, America’s birthday should not be about Trump. He isn’t the star. The country is.

@MattWalshBlog IMO, Trump is not boring. He should speak but also find some music to take the stage before or after. I agree, "Big names" aren't as important as quality though.

Might be an unpopular opinion on here but replacing a concert with a speech is lame and boring. Just go out and get real musicians to play. Don’t cancel the concert just because a bunch of washed up old has-beens canceled. There are hundreds of artists out there who might not be famous but would absolutely leap at the chance to play on a stage like this.

Every country on planet Earth is built on conquest. Every “indigenous” tribe claimed its land by conquest. Every line on the map, across every continent and every ethnic group, was drawn by conquest. Apologizing for this is like apologizing for gravity.

I agree. That’s why we dropped the gambling sponsors from my show. I’ve always been pretty libertarian about gambling (though I’ve never done very much of it myself) but over time I came to see it as a net negative for the public, particularly young people, and couldn’t continue promoting it in good conscience. I still don’t think it should be banned, especially when the state runs its own gambling operation with the lottery, but it’s not something I want to personally endorse.

Imagine if conservatives, rather than pathetically crawling around on the ground to lap up discarded pop culture crumbs, actually went out and advanced their own creative and artistic vision. Imagine if we used an event like this to actually elevate our own artists and make them famous. What a crazy thought.

If I was in charge of the America 250 concert I would do something radical and simply go out and find artists who play great music and hire them even if they aren’t famous. Prioritize artistic quality over name recognition. A novel approach for conservatives but worth a try.

The E. Jean Carroll case against President Trump is one of the strangest civil cases in American history. The foundational problem is this: Carroll could not identify when the alleged incident occurred — not even the year with any precision. That should have killed the case as dead as a skunk on the road right there. Without a temporal anchor, no defendant — regardless of guilt or innocence — can mount an alibi defense. Trump, who has maintained detailed calendars and staff records for decades, was denied the most basic tool of self-defense: the ability to establish where he was. That is not a technicality. It is a due process violation at the constitutional level. Then Carroll produced the one piece of physical evidence she claimed corroborated her account — the dress she wore during the alleged incident. It was subsequently established that the dress was designed after the incident could have occurred. The sole corroborating evidence falsified her timeline. The case proceeded anyway. The resulting verdict was then weaponized in a defamation suit — where Trump was held liable for denying the allegation, while being procedurally barred from defending against it, because it was already "proven" in another court, regardless how flawed the procedure was. He was punished, in effect, for asserting his own innocence. Compounding everything: coordinated professional and physical threats so thoroughly intimidated the legal community that attorneys refused these cases regardless of available fees. When you systematically destroy a defendant's ability to retain counsel of choice, you forfeit the right to a legitimate verdict. An allegation is not evidence. Process without substance is not law. And a verdict produced under these conditions carries no legitimate authority — whatever its formal status. Not only is it the right move to investigate Carroll, but every other person involved as well. Trump is owed serious damages here, and there may be a few people who belong in prison for their roles in the case.

What a mess. They invited a bunch of washed up has-beens, and now even the washed up has-beens are bailing on them. Yet another reason why the right wing "get literally any famous person we can" approach is retarded.

This popped up in my feed for some reason. I had to look it up and yes it turns out that Australia literally has a “Sorry Day” where all the white Australians apologize to the “indigenous” people. How did Australia become such a weak, pathetic country? When did this happen?

One reason for this: Regret due to being behind. No guy who has a great marriage and kids feels this. He enjoys each season as the natural state of life.
