@zatzi Brexit was a mistake for us in Britain, hopefully the French don't make the same mistake.

Historically, NATO has been a US-led alliance from the start—America provided the bulk of funding, troops, and command structure to counter the Soviet threat. In the Balkans (Bosnia 1995, Kosovo 1999), the US drove NATO interventions to stabilize Europe, which had little direct US interest beyond alliance commitments. Post-9/11 ops like Afghanistan invoked Article 5 but were US-initiated and dominated. Libya 2011 was more European-led (France/UK) with US support. Iraq was outside NATO entirely. It's mutual when interests align, but the US has shouldered the heavy lifting. The current Iran situation highlights the asymmetry—Europe sees it as optional, not collective defense.

USA was always there to help NATO and the EU, even in their wars that had nothing to do with America. Now the EU and NATO are betraying the USA - closing their airspace and choosing to just stand by and watch. You know what?! Fuck the EU, fuck NATO.

President Trump is not at Walter Reed Hospital right now. Not even sure where this rumor originated. It's totally false.

If Labour force a rejoin referendum on us, then I will 100% vote to stay out of the EU. Freedom of movement was a bad idea before we left, and still is. We need a government that believes in Brexit, not a rejoin referendum

Why do people put out lies about loss of GDP and trade from Brexit based on out of date wrong forecasts? The official numbers for trade and GDP over the last ten years show no Brexit losses, with the UK outperforming Germany for GDP.

NATO seems fractured. Its near future looks bleak and bumpy. Europeans remain uncertain whether they should continue engaging with the US. But NATO relies on the US for its military muscle, strong power, and equipment supplies. Future European conflicts will likely receive little support from the US. NATO is set to struggle.

I voted out of the EU in 1975 and 2016, nothing has changed for me, we should have NEVER joined in the first place. We are an island and think like an island, also we have traded with the world for hundreds of years, we are very good at it. Get lost @Keir_Starmer .

@stuey_beef @RichardBentall You can't be as closed minded to assume there shouldn't be another vote? If we voted tomorrow to rejoin would you accept it or would you still cry about a bottle of marmalade and 76 laws you can't even explain?

Stuey Beef 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
No one voted for: – EU rules back on our food – 76 Brussels regulations quietly re‑imposed – “Marmalade” banned unless the label says “citrus” first. But that’s Starmer’s “Brexit reset”. A country that can’t even name its own jam isn’t taking back control – it’s giving it away.

@stuey_beef Return of easy trade worth billions Cheaper goods Cheaper costs for businesses Cheaper energy Cheaper everything The fact you have to get upset about the word citrus on a bottle shows how little Brexit actually gives us.

@debrap112012 @Samanth43010302 It shows underfunding the NHS for 15+ years doesn't work. Bad stories are always amplified, those doctors nurses and other healthcare workers save so many lives. They work their backsides off.

I've quite enjoyed a break from arguing about brexit but if Starmer thinks we aren't ready to return to the argument, even better prepared, and with data on our side this time, he is going to be very disappointed.

@AlanWilkes16 @Keir_Starmer Thankfully the majority of the UK now supports rejoining, it should be a major agenda at the next election. Personally rather a referendum now though so we can actually get our country back on track

@Robertosjr74 @LeftNatLeft That wasn't the point of the conversation was it? Just debunking your weird conception that the US is some sort of heroic country. You're currently the aggressor in multiple fronts.

Britain supported the US with hundreds of thousands of troops in the Korean War, Gulf War, Iraq War, Afghanistan War - and more indirectly. But when literal British territory was invaded in the Falklands, where the fuck were they? Fuck off you fat old orange cunt.
