BOKSBURG MAGISTRATES SAYS HE RECIEVED A CALL FROM A MEMBER OF THE "MADLANGA TASK TEAM"
DEVELOPING: The Magistrate Emmanuel Sethibe Magampa, presiding over the bail hearing of suspended Deputy EMPD Julius Mkhwanazi and Kagiso Lerutla, says he got a call yesterday from a member of the "Madlanga Task Team" named Sergeant Sibisi.
The magistrate says the member asked if Magampa presided over the 2019 scheme involving an alleged R400,000 payment to hire a fake person to appear in court for a speeding case. The magistrate said he couldn't recollect or recall what had happened previously.
Magampa, who's been in the criminal justice system for over 37 years, directed Sibisi to check records at the court and also communicate with the prosecutors in order to get answers.
Magampa further said he told Sibisi he'd place it on record during today's bail hearing. Sibisi allegedly said it was not necessary. The magistrate said it was ethically necessary and proceeded to place that on record during day three of the bail hearing.
The defense said this was extremely concerning, while the State Prosecutor said they'd look into the matter. The magistrate said he'd decide "what step to take next" during his free time, citing that it's the nature of the game and he wasn't deterred.
NB: This Task Team was established by SAPS, not the Madlanga Commission, despite the Magistrates' reference to the member as being from the "Madlanga Task Team."

The State alleges that Julius Mkhwanazi and his driver were providing a very lucrative court appearances person-for-hire service.
The driver would impersonate a person meant to appear in court and do it on their behalf in exchange for a small appearance fee.
The State alleges that Kagiso Lerutla paid them R400k when he was meant to present himself for his DUI case.
The driver is said to have impersonated a number of Ekurhuleni officials who need this unique service offering.

Eleven accused persons and four companies arrested by the Hawks Serious Commercial Crime Investigation appeared before the Lephalale Magistrate’s Court in Polokwane on Tuesday, 21 April 2026. All accused were granted bail and are expected to appear before the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Thursday, 07 May 2026. Hawks Limpopo Provincial Head Major General Gopez Govender said the unit remains committed to combating corruption and safeguarding public funds intended to support students and education.

Stratcom, the apartheid regime’s propaganda arm, was a shadowy network of disinformation, media manipulation, and covert operations designed to crush anti-apartheid resistance. Operating primarily in the 1980s, it targeted activists like Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, spreading fabricated stories to discredit their reputations. Security Police agents embedded journalists in newsrooms, paid for favorable coverage, and planted false narratives portraying dissenters as violent or corrupt. Beyond misinformation, Stratcom employed “dirty tricks” — fake pamphlets, illegal surveillance, arson, and even assassinations — to sow division and destabilize opposition movements.
Its reach extended beyond South Africa. New revelations suggest Stratcom attempted to influence international figures, including U.S. allies, to shape global perceptions of the regime. Former officer Paul Erasmus, who later testified before the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC), exposed the operation’s inner workings, detailing how he was tasked with discrediting key ANC figures.
The TRC confirmed Stratcom’s role in human rights violations, validating widespread allegations of systematic propaganda campaigns. Its legacy lingers, with ongoing debates about whether modern media professionals could still be influenced by its tactics. The existence of a “friendly journalist” list — where reporters were on the payroll or under covert influence — raises concerns about media integrity today.
This history is a stark reminder of how misinformation and propaganda can be weaponized. As AI and digital media evolve, the lessons from Stratcom remain urgent: protecting truth and accountability is essential to democracy.

🎈‼️🔥 Boom! Mnisi walks right into the trap set by Adv. Chaskalson. A classic example of how a little knowledge is dangerous. Listen to how he concedes, then tries to walk back his own wrongdoing. He is all over now blaming everyone and everything.
