@OverSharinErin Erin, I agree that local newspapers have been ruined but I blame either the Congress or the Federal Trade Commission which no longer enforces denial of approval for newspaper mergers that will decrease competition. York City is a prime example of this.

.@DukeMBB’s had a lot of great players over the years, and we tried our hand at conducting a fantasy draft of all of them. This is what we came up with, with the opportunity for you to give your thoughts on the best team and more in the polls below: chron.it/3uZA7DJ

@styx1954 @AP • Yes and no - here’s an example of one thing in law - it bans requiring voter ID to vote since it’s been shown that had a disproportionately large impact on minority voters.

@MSNBC @CNBC Good lesson for people who want to wait for handouts - pay all other debt first before paying off student loan debt. Dubious morality!

@danetrain86 @Patrick57285513 @MSNBC @CNBC Undergraduate federally guaranteed loans charge a fixed rate for life of 2.75% - hardly high interest for a loan with absolutely no collateral - no house, no car - a totally unsecured that any lender would always charge a much higher rate! See studentaid.gov

@Patrick57285513 @MSNBC @CNBC The money paid in high interest, because they are high interest, student loans would go back into the economy instead of to a bank. Helping many many more people.

@MSNBC @CNBC I’m very opposed to unconditional forgiveness of debt or interestto anyone with student loan debt - very unfair for many reasons to lots of groups of people. I’m OK to forgive debt if there’s a process that requires proof someone was treated unfairly when they borrowed the bucks.

I'm seeing some people suggesting Trump may be faking it. Look, he lies about everything, but that doesn't make sense. His whole campaign strategy was to get people to forget about covid, insisting that we'd turned the corner. How do you think this news affects FL seniors? 1/

I’m calling on Senator Pat Toomey to follow the precedent he set in 2016 and refuse to vote to confirm a new Associate Justice to the Supreme Court until the presidential election concludes and the elected candidate is sworn into office.

@maddow The term comes from stories of a fake portable village built solely to impress Empress Catherine II by her former lover Grigory Potemkin, during her journey to Crimea in 1787.

@maddow In politics and economics, a Potemkin village is any construction (literal or figurative) whose sole purpose is to provide an external façade to a country which is faring poorly, making people believe that the country is faring better. The term comes from stories of a fake

It’s about time! Twitter and Facebook have a responsibility to provide links to a location with additional information related to the tweet. Let Trump go to the courts to see how they respond to his whining. Social media are providing a platform for Trump to lesd his lemmings.

HUGE. Twitter on Tuesday slapped a fact-check label on President Trump’s tweets for the first time, a response to long-standing criticism that the company is too hands-off when it comes to policing misinformation and falsehoods from world leaders. washingtonpost.com/technology/202…

I was pleased to see that Twitter had the courage to label a Trump tweet. The label did not stifle free speech in any way - he’s still free to Tweet whatever he wants. I’m fine with Twitter labeling any tweet at all that presents clearly false “facts”.
