DIESEL PRICES IN GERMANY HIT RECORD HIGH ⛽ Within just two days, the national average price per litre rose by more than twelve cents. On Friday, the nationwide average for diesel stood at €2.291 according to ADAC data, only three cents below the all-time record. At certain expensive Autobahn service stations, especially Aral stops, prices have climbed far higher, with diesel reaching €3.10 per litre. Petrol prices are also rising. A litre of Super E10 averaged around €2.29 on Friday. It remains below its previous record but continues to trend upward. Compared with levels before the current crisis, diesel is more than 54 cents higher per litre, while petrol has increased by around 31 cents. The surge is driven by higher crude oil prices linked to the conflict with Iran. Other European countries, including Poland, have kept fuel taxes lower, prompting many German drivers to refuel across the border. Germany has not announced similar relief measures. ⚡ The International Energy Agency is calling for lower fuel consumption. Its proposals focus on the transport sector, which accounts for a large share of oil demand. Suggested measures include more remote working, lower speed limits, greater use of public transport, and restrictions on car use in cities. Fewer flights and changes in industrial energy use could also reduce demand.
